Marital trance?
« on: April 03, 2008, 05:26:00 pm »

Sorry for making three threads in two days, but I'm wondering what is happening here.

So i was in a Forest Retreat that apparently belongs to kentaurs(Martial Arts mod), and my dwarf's @ sign starts blinking with a green exclamation point and it says '<name>, speardwarf, has entered a marital trance!

Am I going to die?

Quite the opposite. When a SINGLE dwarf is targeted by MULTIPLE enemies, the Dwarf will occasionally enter a "martial trance," meaning that dwarf temporarily turns into Chuck Norris.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

But... i have exactly zero enemies around me. So is it wasted? How long does it last?

EDIT: It lasted 3 damn turns.

EDIT 2: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I just found a divine being and he gave me a quest to kill him. I'm boned.

ANOTHER EDIT:Oh wow. I killed the Divine Being after my lower body was engulfed in a fire ball, but I was subsequently killed by 3 Kentaur Guards.

Just a quick note:
marital = related to marriage
martial = related to combat

Dwarves can now get married in fortress mode, but I can't say I've ever seen one enter a marital trance.   ;)

You killed a Diviner? HOW? Those buggers are usually too strong to even be close to defeatable...  Not by any of my own adventurers, at least. Usually I get chopped to pieces by divine blades, before I can do so much as break a wing.

I was swarmed by about 20 ratmen as a dwarf.  Martial trance + dwarf with axe and steel armor = fun.  Body parts just started flying everywhere.

Hm. On a side note, I wonder. Norrock spelled "martial" as "marital" when he referred to the trance, but he spelled my mod right...

I can't help but marvel at the inconsistency of a human brain's workings sometimes...
