Ok, know all about the classics, but Dwarves eating somehow cursed mud is new to me.

This game just keeps surprising me.

Mine would be Planepacked and other similar quantum artifacts.  Bonus points for inlcuding multiple images of itself.

How about the way you could use DFHack to place someone in a mug, give them the mug, and watch them drink themselves out of existence.  Or how, if you put yourself in a mug and drank yourself, the game would crash.  Toady One never really explained that last one…

Planepacked cracked me up when I expanded the description.

I absolutely lost it at the concept of drinking yourself out of existence.

Oh, they would drink anything. And I mean, anything anything. Stacks of weapons, literal filth, anything in a mug. And yes, themselves as well.

My all-time favorite bug still has to be this beauty from 2016.

I'm now tempted to try if it still works. All I'd need would be a necromancer, some invaders and a shallow magma hole.

Cats infinitely trying to get through locked doors, causing lag is another great one - the bugs around cats are just so strong.

Dwarven mothers rushing into battle with babies in their arms is also good - particularly when the baby joins the battle.

Similarly, it was (maybe still is) possible to send dwarves on missions and mothers would carry their babies off the map. If the squad gets captured, the babies came crawling back all the way home - sometimes across entire continents. They would also, somehow, communicate everything that happened on the mission upon their return.

Not really an oversight, but in a previous version, if a helmeted dwarf got knocked out by some goblins, they goblins would spend ages slamming weapons into and kicking the helmet until either the helmet broke, or the dwarf's skull inside it was mashed into a pulp. Nowadays they take the helmet off and then finish the job. Was way more brutal before, if you ask me...

This was in someone’s sig — maybe on Giant in the Playground, maybe here, maybe in Mafiascum (but probably not) — but I copied just the text so I don’t know whose it was/is any more.

Dwarf Fortress 0.40.01 bugs
- If an adventurer shouts and nobody is around to hear it, the game crashes
- War Dogs appear to run from themselves in terror
- New tree generation frequently causes birds to explode

Another one from someone's sig about the game going out after siegers' campfires.

I remember that sig, actually - basically a typo on the heels of a crash, I believe.

That one was actually a post by Toady One himself, though it's also quoted on the wiki (and probably some forum signatures too).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Of those that I've personally experienced, one of my favorites is the case of the plump helmet man who joined a necromancer tower and learned the secrets of life and death, but could not become a necromancer because he could not speak. He taught a fair few students before he died.

Another was when my companion and I were accosted by bandits inside of a hamlet, one of whom demanded that my companion drop his crossbow, which the coward promptly did. I picked it up before it could be taken, leading to the following exchange looping indefinitely:
Bandit: "Drop the crossbow!"
Companion: "I don't know where it is, and I don't know anyone who could tell you."

Werebeast allegiance is good. If you trap several werebeasts (of the same type) in a room together, eventually you'll be left with only one, but it may take several full moons. Werebeasts seem to choose teams when they transform, then fight it out. I think the working theory is that it has something to do with them seeing other creatures turn into werebeasts - clearly an affront to them.
