The recruiter's office is packed. After that last round of ass whoopings that the Allies gave to the Japanese on their homeland, the recruitment offices have been packed to the gills in new recruits looking to stick it to the Germans on their presently occupied ground on a large island in the Atlantic they have been using as a forward defensive position against would be invasions from the Eastern Seaboard of the American homeland. Every recruit knew that this would be a hard fight. The enemy has had time to entrench and fortify.
The same could be said about the British troops roaring to attack the German defenses to clear their flank for an invasion of mainland France. And so too do the French flock to American and British recruitment centers in hopes of winning back their homeland.
All in all, by the end of 1947, American and British troops with their French detachments and all equipment set aside for invasion totalled enough for 200,000 men with the initial invasion force being 23,000 split betwixt 7 beaches on the island's northern side.
Unbeknownst to the western Allied forces, the Russians also had an invasion plan. The Eastern Front having collapsed and forced Soviet high command and the majority of the Red Army to flee to North Africa (the worst possible place to be a native Russian.) They Soviets want to destroy the thing keeping the German War Machine safe from a western attack, thus allowing them to return home and recommence the Great Patriotic War. The Soviet Union would be attacking the Southwest side as the Allies distract the Germans in the North. Their numbers are 600. The beach they're landing on is ill suited for invasion unlike the northern beaches.
The operation would be known as

Hello! I AM BACK!!! This will be my best and hopefully last attempt to revive my old game, Seltsame Insel from years ago under a new name and with way, way more stuff. For those who didn't play or have never read Seltsame Insel the first time, it's a GRUNTS styled WW2-esque game in which I recreate D-Day on a strange island held by German forces. The first time ran for several turns and had a massive death toll. I spent 2 whole deployments refining and recrafting my game from the ground up. I play tested it on (ironically, given the subject material) June 6th 2021 with 2 of my friends, who became (with help of magic and stuffs) Naked Jesus and Frankenstein (and his monster in the same person). Magic and specail things will be explained in another spoiler.
I will try my damnedest to make the actual details as close to actual D-Day as possible. I will be basing most of my details from a book I was reading during the two deployments. The book went into excruciating details about every aspects of the invasion and preparations. As such, I will model it off the descriptions there. There are seven beachheads. 1 french, 4 american, and 2 british beaches, codenamed Chair, Carpet, Knocker, Beach, Dog, Schnitzel, and Bathtub respectively.
There will be a few other spoilers to detail the rest of the game as I want it to be.
The first beach you guys will be going to is the American beach codenamed Beach Beach (My friend randomly picked it early in my second deployment). The french beach is already taken, so there may eventually be reinforcements.
The game will start when I have at least 4 people. Anyone who is dormant for more than 3 consecutive turns will be put in cryosleep until the end of the battle/ their return.
Turns will be taken in shifts depending on the stage of the beaches. Each Beach is broken up into 9 zones denoted in Roman Numerals. The zones are (in order from furthest to closest): Landing, Surf, Wet Sand, Dry Sand, Shingle, Packed Sand, Sea Wall, Base of Bluff, and Bluff. The Turns in the zones will be split between the Players, Artillery, MGs, Infantry, traps, mortars, etc.
There will be magic, but at first it will be random. Anything that could be reasonably construed as Divinity, Eldritch dealings, Luck, or traditional sorcery/Magics will be given a random magical effect from the Net Libram of Random Magical Effects. Every time afterwards, that spell will henceforth be performed the same way as done the first time if able. During the beach invasions, I will not track what you do and do not know. If you find a spell, I'll log that and you will be able to cast that spell from then until your character at the end of the beach invasion dies in normal combat. After that, they'll have to rediscover any magic you want.
Accolades are like perks/abilities. You start with up to 2 and get a new one every 3 ranks (up to 5). You can receive accolades from myself for exceptionally heroic or stupid acts. They can work to buff you, buff other players, debuff the enemies, perform a predetermined minor action without rolling for it, etc., etc.
On the island, all characters will speak common and their home language. Example being the Frenchmen speak Common and French when on the island. But would otherwise speak only French and whatever other language they may have learned before.
