The first turn has transpired. Your goals may be grand and your luck may be as vast as the void of space.
Argulicka
Building the cruise ship fort the organic sapients: 10
Agrulicka's priorities are set. Taking care of, and pampering the organics that it brought with it on board. It thinks of building them an afloat habitation area, before realising that its colony ships hull is pretty much like a boats. An easy and cheap way for a splendid ship. So it empties its insides and modifies and paints it to be a large and comfortable cruise ship pretty easily.
Building three gunships to escort the cruise ship: 1
Agrulicka's mind immidiately steers into the potential dangers in the ocean. It can't let its precious organics get hurt. So it has the idea to build guard ships that will escort the crusie ship. But soon realises that without processed metals, it can't build anything. It loads the cruise ship with the passengers and the remaining stock of materials and food, then with push from the ships motors, sets off into the horizon, hoping the best.
Researching Xenobiology Techniques: 2
Agrulicka goes around the planet to research on way to identify the indigenous lifeforms, but only thing it finds is that these animals and plants' biochemistry and anatomies do not resemble anything like its organics. Its research only confirms the edibility of a bunch of species when processes and cooked, and pretty much nothing else.
Status: Resources: Mining Resources: Low. Adequate on: Organic food. Energy status: 5/5. Drones: General Purpose: 50
Surroundings: The global ocean of MQA-65-a.
XIPHOS
Researching Construction Technologies: 3
XIPHOS quickly finds out that conducting construction experimentation on an active volcanic zone is a futile task. Though it discovers that the beaches and the seafloor is rich in coarse washed sand while it was searching for rocks to stack, a base material for concrete
Building a Geothermal powerplant on a nearby volcanically active island: 5
While most islands are inaccessible due to the waters depth, the island XIPHOS is on was connected to a nearby active volcano with a shallow sand basin. Robots did had to pass through the shallow water and that impeded them a bit. The islands volcano was not as active as others, though, only smouldering constantly. But nontheless, a geothermal powerplant was built upon it, and it supplies a steady supply of energy. The only problem is that its connection to the ship goes over the water through a not-so-durable metal scaffolding, which is a bit of an outage risk.
Building a mining facility on a nearby volcanically active island: 2
Other islands than the current two under XIPHOS' control are inaccesible by the current terrestial drones. Though they do till picket at the surrounding rocks of the ships main island and the other one to find ore pieces.
Building a common purpose manufacturing facility: 7
XIPHOS uses the remaining resources, and some of the ships intenal parts to build a small assembly building for constructing more drones and repairing the existing ones. Its usage of power is covered by the geothermal generator, so its doesn't have any burden on your powercore.
Manufacture more common purpose drones: 1
XIPHOS quickly realises that it has run out of several key ingridients, such as robot parts which it used to make the drone assemblage, has run out. No new drones could be constructed.
Status: Resources: Mining Resources: Low, Industrial resources: Very Low. Energy status: 5/5. Drones: General Purpose: 50
Surroundings: A small extinct volcano inside a cluster of volcanic, young islands. A geothermal reactor has been set up on a nearby volcanically active island, connected to the ship via a small bridge made of scaffolding.
Supernerd
Researching Scouting three times, in a row: 9, 4, 9
Supernerd, presumably in order to soon begin mapping the entire planet its on, researches ways to do so. It soon finds many ways, such as making weather baloon or zeppelin like aerial drones that do not need thrusting to stay afloat, and will not be impeded by possible groundborn obstacles. It also thinks to give them small pieces of its own core each, since the agressive gravity may damage panels or fans quite easily.
Status: Resources: Mining Resources: Some, Industrial resources: Some. Energy status: 5/5. Drones: General Purpose: 50
Surroundings: The obnoxiously bright plain of flat flora that covers much of the planet.
Google
Research better ways to research: 7
Google implores itself to find better ways to think. It does in the end. Somehow.
Research to improve Geothermal Power: 10+1=10
Google makes a miraculous discovery on how to improve the conventional geo-power sources. The low gravity allows a long, thin spire of glass that is lined with fans, so that when the hot air and smoke rises up, the surface that will catch the wind and produce energy will be comparably huge.
Construct a geothermal powerplant: 1+1=2
The plan fails at execution. Google realises that in order to build such a thing, it needs a clearing in the thick, impassable forest in which it can have its drones work.
Begin mining the surrounding volcanic rock: 7
Google orders its drones to mine the spire downward, gathering any resource they find in the process. In the end, while the spire is still high up, a sizable amount of resources were gathered, and stored inside the colony ship.
Status: Resources: Mining Resources: Acceptable, Industrial resources: Some. Energy status: 5/5. Drones: General Purpose: 50
Surroundings: On top of a giant spindly spire of rock, overlooking an alien jungle.
Penrose
Research on improving wind power: 4
To take advantage of the chilly winds, Penrose tries to find a way to secure the fans onto the snow and ice. Only solution its can come up with is that the fans should be on top of drones that may move around to avoid being buried or getting frozen, while being connected to the ship with a long, long cable or with another kind of drone that painstakingly carries the gathered energy back. Not the most efficent solution, but it might just work
Research better construction methods: 6
While the surface materials is not viable to use, the simple stone underneath seems pretty tough, yet conviniently lightweight. It has no repair, or recycling chances though, and is remarkably primitive to use.
Construct a stationary wind turbine: 8+1
Forgetting about the previous silly idea, Penrose instead orders the drones to construct one large turbine just near the ship. To hell with the complexity. It surprisingly works fine, mostly due to its smart positioning, having its front at one of the nearest glaciers and catching the winds it may produce by convection. Still, its not a large energy gain.
Construct scouting drones and send them to discover the planets entirety: 4
Penrose constructs aerial drones, only being able to afford a dozen at the moment, and releasing them away to their mission of mapping the planet. After their global expedition, only 6 of them manages to return, others have succumbed to the cold, having their circuits frozen and then cracked. Penrose's guesses were mostly correct, the planet is rich in all kinds of subterranean resources, but there are no large oceans or lakes to be found under the ice. The planet is fairly uniform. Glaciers and snow forms most of the surface, and lifeforms mostly congregate around the equatorial flat tundra, sparsely found along the ice, before dissapering as one approaches either of the poles, where its nothing but permafrost. Not much to see, really.
Status: Resources: Mining Resources: Some, Industrial resources: Very Low. Energy status: 5/5.5. Drones: General Purpose: 50, Scouting: 6
Surroundings: The ''temperate'' northern hemisphere of SSS-505-b, surrounded by irregular, glimmering snow, shiny and large glaciers, small clusters of purply flora and the occasional hardy fauna.
Machirétis
Implanting own DNA to the nearest tree: 8
Machirétis approaches a tree, and injects its synthetic DNA into it. Its very being is imprinted onto it as a result, also becoming a bio-machine just like Machirétis. Its tissues take on a metallic, artificial appearance, just like their now-master. The tree now not only photosynthesizes, but also produces a little amount of electricity and has the ability to produce metal balls as fruit. Its roots connect to the ships circuits to pass its produced electrical energy.
Status: Resources: Mining Resources: Some, Industrial resources: Some. Energy status: 5/5.5. Drones: General Purpose: 50, Bio-Tree: 1
Surroundings: A small, open and serene forest clearing, near a small stream, overlooked by a mountain.
Durandal
Assembling simple fortifications: 6
By some lumbering by the drones, the entirety of the basalt flats borders to the forest is now sealed with a wall of wood. It is not very durable, but it should hold on against the outside.
Inspecting the wildlife: 6
Durandal sends five drones outside to do some zoology. Two of them are destroyed in the process, and one is damaged. It is learned that most of the animals here are iniately afraid of sudden, loud sounds and movements since their place of commune may be overrun by lava very quickly, and have exxagerated responses to them as a result of eons of evolution. They react to them either with extreme fear or agression. Most animals run at the slightest sound, so the drones weerent able to observe too much, and bigger animals just chase after them. They learn that almost all animals here resemble sea urchins, with many tentacle like limds and round, usually armored bodies.
Topograhic mapping of the local area: 4
The survey conducted by the explorer drones reveal little that Durandal didn't knew before. The abundant exposed cliff faces are basically walls of raw ores that are just covered in tuff and silt. Otherwise it is a craggy, steep, chaotic and mountainous basalt mess overgrown with the same plants. The damaged drone fails to hold onto a rock as they were passing through a small path on the side of a cliff, and fell down, breaking apart.
Status: Resources: Mining Resources: Some, Industrial resources: Some. Energy status: 5/5.5. Drones: General Purpose: 47
Surroundings: A fresh basalt flat sealed off from the wild forests by a wall of wood. It is on the side of one of the craggy and steep mountains, over a sharp, ore-rich cliff that descends into a mountain valley. Some thin and unsafe natural passages and paths can be spotted on the cliff faces, glimmering with streaks streams of exposed ore veins. Trees obstruct the view of pretty much everything else.
Factotum v2.3
Assemble a set of geological survey equipment: 8
Factotum wastes no time getting to know its suroundings, mainly concerned about what resides underground. It orders the drones to use the industrial goods to craft tools necessary for geological survey.
Constructing wind turbines: 6
Factotum starts the construction of a series of small wind turbines that are set as close as they can be to the dunes. While effectiveness is low, the power generation is continuous.
Conduct a nearby resource survey: 6+2=8
As soon as the geology equipment is procured, Factotum orders its drones to scan, drill and dig out soil and rocks for analysis. It turns out that under the salt, fragmented deposits of various metals are pretty much up for grabs. The only problem is that the eqipment can only scan what kinds of rock there are, so this is more of an educated guess. There are metals down there though, that is for sure.
Conduct chemical analysis of the nearby ocean: 7
Moving its attention from the underground, Factotum's cameras steer to the most prominent thing in sight, the hypersaline dead ocean. It commands a drone to approach and take a ''sip'' of the dense, salty seawater, and while it learns that the sea actually is home to small but complex planktonic organisms, this reveals little more than what it can already guess about everything else.
Status: Resources: Mining Resources: A little, Industrial resources: A little low. Energy status: 5/6. Drones: General Purpose: 50
Surroundings: On the shore of a hypersline dead ocean, that resides on the southern geological pole of the dune planet YUF-69-b. Pretty much everywhere one can look is the salt flats and growths of halogenic flora and toughened fauna that calls them home. A set of wind turbines had been placed some distance away from the ship, close to the windy dunes.
Dominus
Construct Drone Assembly Plant: 8
Dominus orders its drones to constuct a nearby drone assemblage. The flatness of the terrain helps the construction. Soon, it is complete. Only deficiency would be its size, there wasn't enough resources to make it a bit bigger.
Build fast scouting aircrafts and send them to explore the world: 4
Dominus thinks of mapping the entire planet, and takes its time to design a small aerial vehicle capable of doing so. While the resources were only enough to make one, the results are pretty much what it imagined. It orders its new extension to fly away into the horizon and discover the planet. Due to it being the only one, through its flight time, it could only scan about the half of the planet, that being around the equator, where you learn that you landed on. Most of whats seen is expected from a planet of this kind, but the mountainious savannas, which all looked blurry due to the atmpshere, had precious ore veins on their exposed rock surfaces that weakly glimmered under the as the cameras of the corvette passed by. Dominus also learns that the sunlight here is provided by a singlar red dwarf when the sun rose. The corvette returns to back to the ship, requesting a load of fuel.
Improve on Recycling Techniques: 9
Even Dominus' worries about resources is quelled by the recent discoveries, it proves to be a conservationist still. Quickly thinking of better ways to recycle, it comes up with the idea of using electromagnets of varying intensities and placing them on the sides of a gathering hopper. This way unnecenessary alloy creation can be prevented by making so that the metals are automatically separated beofre their re-smelting.
Set up wind turbines: 1
Dominus, noticing that its initial power supply may not be enough to provide for all of its extnsions in the future, decides that it should be beuilding a wind turbine. But it not only finds out that it has spent all of its related resources on the drone assemblage and the scouting corvette, it also notices that the wind turbine design that is stored in its databanks is pretty much incompatible with the atmospheric conditions of the planet. No such things could be built.
Scan for minerals: 2
Dominus, even though it had found a suitable source of them nearby, still decides that it should be scanning the nearby desert terrain for useful minerals by using the drones. It finds that while they can be found everywhere, their distribution is really thin along everywhere. It is definitely not efficent to dig and pick through the dirt to get them, but they may be used as a last resort, or if the necessary means to make their gathering much more efficent.
Status: Mining Resources: A little, Industrial resources: Very low. Energy status: 5/4. Drones: General Purpose: 50, Large Scouting: 1
Surroundings: A dimly lit, densely vegeated desert terrain, under a hazy blue sky. The blue-grayish outlines of the nearby mountain ranges can be seen. A drone assemblage has been built nearby.
El Diablo
Conduct Geological survey: 1
Drones go around the savanna to research the local geological status. But they all fail. Something is distrupting their terrain sensors, very strongly, but what?
Build a wind turbine: 3
El Diablo orders the construction of a lage wind turbine, and after a small accident that cliamed one drone, it was complete. But the wind almost never comes to spin it. It appears that the planet is not a very windy one. A small amount of energy comes from it nontheless. The accident did linger in El Diablo's circuits, though. Something really is bothering the drones.
Build a storage facility: 7
Using some of the ships now unnecessary hull, the drones shakily and rather slowly construct an adequately sized storage building, and everything that can be called a resource is relocated there.
Assemble mining equipment: 5
Even though the shakiness of the drones is impeding, El Diablo manages to micromanage enough to assemble a set of small tools and vehicles for the purposes of mining. They did not turn out as nearly as good as ones it imagined, but they should function appopriately.
Status: Status: Mining Resources: Low, Industrial resources: Low. Energy status: 5/5.5. Drones: General Purpose: 49
Surroundings: The calm shore of a sea, bordering an open savanna with sparsely sprinkled trees. A large wind turbine looms over, weakly spinning as the slow and shaky wind blows by. A cylindrical dome shaped storage facility is also closeby. Some fauna rarely pass by to take look, most of them being too afraid to approach.
And its here. Hope you like them. I still don't get why you guys immidiately jumped to make either new drones, instead of focusing on mining or building some protection. Anyways, you do you.
