The Hound and Nyarlathotep contain some of his most incredibly disturbing writing, the last paragraph of The Hound, and like the last two or three paragraphs of Nyarlathotep.

I just had a mayor whose cousin was also his aunt.  Does that mean she's her own mother?

And on the topic of Innsmouth, today is the anniversary of the ascent of R'lyeh.

One of her father or mother's siblings had a daughter with one of their grandparents. Grandparents on either side!

It doesn't have to be incestuous, it's just really freaky.

*ahem*

If you ever get close to a human
And human behaviour
Be ready, be ready to get confused

There's definitely, definitely, definitely no logic
To human behaviour
But yet so, yet so irresistible

And there's no map
and a compass
wouldn't help at all

They're terribly moody
And human behaviour
Then all of a sudden turn happy

But, oh, to get involved in the exchange
Of human emotions
Is ever so, ever so satisfying

Oh oh, and there's no map

I was hoping you'd respond with "Tentacles!" and then we could go through the whole song.

I haven't finished that one.  So far The Hound is my favorite.

Yeah, but it was an Edgar Alan Poe parody in a way...
I liked "At mountains of madness" best, even if it did almost spoil all of the other books for me...

You know the whole explanation of things...
Like the origin of Cthulhu and all.
You lose a bit of that great ol' feeling of completely unknown terror.

It's still awesome, just I don't feel scared...
Would I be otherwise?

Everyone says "The color out of space" is the scariest one I am saving it for the end.
