Kazuki had gotten careless yet again in his desire to cut a path through the guards. Yet again, his job had very nearly come to a close. The same guy manages to take his job from him yet again, and now it appeared that he got rewarded with a Gnosis. An audible 'tch' surfaces from Kazuki as an undeniably bitter expression arose on his face.

"...Another assassination attempt. Another fucking assassination attempt. The Hiruma are starting to piss me off..."

Kazuki looked under his pauldron briefly— Gnosis was still there, Ozen hadn't decided to rip his chance away. Yet. He wasn't sure if a god could take away a Gnosis or not, anyway, but he wasn't going to let it happen. With a quiet breath, Kazuki made sure he wouldn't drift more than a single step away from Rin— and only wait for her movements. A pincer attack was not ideal for making sure she was safe, so he wasn't going to take a single eye off of her even if it meant his demise.

"All you guards making it sound like we're all some super criminals but its not our fault we were born with this curse." The lad sighs in frustration.


"I won't allow you to detain us without a fight!"

"...I guess it was too much to hope for that you'd back off."

Miyako glanced behind herself and, blinking at the sudden, strange clairvoyance, noted the tactical situation: this smaller group would have to go now or she and her friends would be surrounded. Beyond that, though the assassin was disarmed, there probably were more if there were two. Making a decision, she called upon her Gnosis' power and tried to remember the move her mentor promised would strike through any armour. She didn't actually want to kill the guard, but the magic pouring through her weapon should knock him out even if she held back a little.

D21. Sailor's Fire. Attack Yari B.

Setsurou raised his spell tag and charged at Yari C, body low to avoid incoming attacks... then suddenly he placed his right hand on the ground and used it as a pivot, throwing the Ingrain tag at Yari A instead as he slid past Miyako, using her to confuse the enemy about his own movements.

Setsurou moves to D20 via one left and three north, then Ingrains Yari A.

: "Um."

: "What the hell? Where did this bunch come from?"

: "Hey guards, any chance you could lower your weapons? We haven't done anything wrong."

"Boss, stay by me!"

Kazuki waited for Yusuke to move in, then nodded to Rin as he prepared to pick the guy off with a bomb. Wish some Hiruma thugs were here to make things a little more satisfying.

Well this was certainly a turn of events. But who cares? She could settle with asking questions later. At least this sudden scuffle kept things fun.

The guards turn towards the Kaneko twins.
"By order of the Imperial Captain of this town, you will be placed into custody as accesories to fugitives! We'll just sort you out in once we have you all!"

Right, then. Peace isn't exactly an option.
In the blink of an eye, one unfortunate Imperial soldier is sent packing as Madoka's blade, as fast as lightning, shatters his spear -and his armor- in one clean slash.

Meanwhile, Yusuke sprints towards the ashigaru, trying to get used to his new Gnosis. He nods at Kazuki.
"If she really wants to get involved, then....I can't stand around and do nothing.  Stay behind, Rengoku, let us handle this!"

With an ice-encrusted fist to the face, another soldier falls unconscious.

With a second spell tag, Setsurou enveloped the soldier in a towering hedge of thorny vines. It would be very difficult - and painful - if not impossible for the man to extricate himself, but no harm was done. Despite his words, his mission here was not assassination or decimation, only rescue. Still, despite being a snake, he did have something of a conscience.

"...We should help out those travelers. They didn't ask to be caught up in this and I have no qualms with taking down corrupt soldiers."

Even if the twins hadn't been adherents of Freedom, they would have found such casual incarceration unacceptable.

: "Yeah, not happening." Chidori tried to step forward, cracking her knuckles, but Chikara blocked her with an outstretched arm.

: "I'll take the lead on this one, Dori. You back me up, and try to grab a blade off of one of these guys if you get the chance." The male sibling pulled a tome from his pack as his sister nodded in acceptance.

Pleased with her and her allies' work, Miyako turned toward the larger group of guards before talking to Setsurou:

"Yes, we got them in this mess, so it's only fair we get them out of it. Besides, if this feeling I have is right, one of them is the Sheep, and I want to meet them."

"Wait, y-you're all Cursed?!"

"No, but I am a Misaki."

He rolled up his sleeve to show her the intricate blue and black banding across the reptilian scales of his arm. Next, he pointed to each of the Juunishi as he introduced them.

"Tanigawa the Rat, Traxesa the Tiger, and Yusuke the Cat."

"Nice to meet you, ma'am. You can call me Miyako. Tanigawa is just Setsurou's thing."

"We can talk more once we're done with these guards, but yes, I'm the Rat."
