What even is so great about the innocent anyway? Maybe we should protect the guilty. They probably need it more.
What do you think we are, a lawyer?

You are a Guardian, you can feel that in your bones. They told you the legends, that one day you may be one of those legends. Sword-saints and mighty wielders of Will, they fought for Humanity across a thousand different worlds. They lead humanity into a bright and glorious age, until they fell in greed and hubris, and fought until all that remained was ruin. That was when the Order was born.

Your mediations were interrupted by Ileia, who gently knocks on the door and informs you that the others have decided to try to contact the local authority on the planet and get a ride to one of the local city-floaters. It would probably take some time, as the base you are at is in an isolated region, she tells you.

Apparently the pirates kidnapped people to serve as workers, harvesting the rare and exotic plant and animal material around the place. The atmosphere is filled with toxic spores that gradually infect a person, not to mention the monsters and beasts filling the woods. so the pirates had a “high turnover” rate.  So the pirates would use their kidnapped workforce to collect the highly valuable materials, and trade them to unscrupulous traders in exchange for workers and wealth.

“So, that’s basically our situation,” she says, standing and stretching. Her eyes track up and down your body, lingering at your blood covered hands. “You can take a shower, you know? The base commander actually has some pretty nice quarters, they are yours if you want them.”

Of course you aren’t thinking about showering, you are planning your:

A. Training and Mediation: No risk, more purposefully develop your powers. Not as much XP as other options, little other reward but you get to the city faster, narratively.

B. Harvesting Expedition: Moderate risk. Run out into the woods surrounding the compound and start collecting. Fight and capture dangerous beasts, harvest the rarest of plants and start your journey a wealthy man! Pretty good XP, most wealth.

C. Dive into Hell. Track down the most dangerous beasts, and capture them. On your journey you will collect stuff on your way, and kill beasts that trouble you, but your main goal are any of the Apex Predators that Salicore is famous for. Most potential XP, and pretty good potential wealth. Most dangerous, however.

B. These people still need protection so we shouldn't risk ourselves unnecessarily, but they may also need money. Some careful harvesting trips should fulfil both needs.

Sure, the pirates would have had us do this, but if we can somehow clean the plants and animal flesh from the spores, we can collect food

Survival Check: 1

Well it could be going better. You seem to trigger every defensive and predatory instinct of the surrounding wildlife, and even most of the plants. A paticularly adventurous vine covered in thorns latched onto your arm, and with a muttered curse you tore it off, and you could have sworn you heard it hiss.

You were deep in the wild, ranging alongside a heavy tank/truck with a cargo bay to haul your goods back. You’ve been here for about 2 hours, far past the time an ordinary mortal would have succumbed. So far you haven’t found anything too valuable, mostly  the bodies of various creatures and plants that attacked you. You did accidentally strangle a Razor Panther, which got the team pretty excited. Apparently RazorPanther skin is quite valuable.

You feel a deep sting in your back and you swing, pulping the head of a man-sized mosquito. You sigh and sling the body over your shoulder and begin trudging back to the truck, when a deep roar echos through the jungle. Which wasn’t paticularly noteworthy, except for the sudden quiet that descended over the jungle, and ,after a moments pause,  the chattering over the comma as the pirate guide you voluntold to come with you begins screaming to drive away.

Turning around, you see charging over the hill a hulking beast, churning the earth beneath its claws. It looks to be about half again taller than you are if it stood up. It was covered in thick scales, gleaming as it ran between the plants. You felt your Will respond to it and (Wisdom Check:1) you have no idea what it could mean.

You decide:
A: Run Back to the Tank. Your life support is running low, and while you may be able to survive without it it would be inconvenienced to be trapped in the wilds of a death World.

B. Lead it away from the Tank, then Fight it. Will protect the tank, and hopefully it would be able to find you again.

C. Just Punch it in the Face Really Hard.

You toss the giant mosquito’s body aside, and charge forward yourself. The beast, a Ralqarth your support team tells you as they scream at you to run. But this, the fight, it’s what you were born for.

The Ralqarth roars, and you match it as your fist collides with its face. You hear its skull break and its jaw snap as it is flung backwards into a tree behind it. You shake your hand as some of the Ralqarth’s blood got on you and started burning. The support team in your say in stunned silence, then began cheering wildly. A grin grew across your face.

Then disappeared as the Ralqarth leaped out the tangle of Vampire Bushes it had fallen into. Its claws slammed into you, raking across your chest and sending you spinning away. Flipping thru the air, you land hard in a grove of Fire Pear trees, who begin dropping their highly flammable fruit after being disturbed.

The Ralqarth bounds after you, its jaw snapping back into place before your eyes. You quickly throw your boomerang. It scythes through the air and slams into the Ralqarth’s head, briefly stunning it and sending it into one of the Fire Pear trees. You take this moment to charge in and swing your sword forged by some of the best craftsmen in the galaxy. The creature’s scales absorb most of the blow, and your sword only cuts shallowly. You dodge back as the beast retaliates, it’s massive arm whooshing past where your head was not a moment ago.

Your blade hisses from the creatures acidic blood on the blade, and the cut on the Ralqarth begins to knit back together. The beast growls at you as it slowly approaches on all fours, eyes intent upon yours.

Battered, wounded, and bleeding, you dance across the burning grove with the Ralqarth. Your blows are crushing and furious, but the beast’s scales are thick, and it regenerates from your blows while you feel yourself weakening.

But your Will rages inside you. You are the last of the Order, and you will not fall to this animal.

You unleash:

A. STRENGTH UNENDING: Blows to shatter a world. Strength to stop disaster. Your Will is crushing, an unstoppable force. Uncomplicated and power enough to achieve your goals.   While others may be more cunning and numerous, but you will rise to bury them all.
-POWER FIST: Concentrate your Will into a single, crushing blow.

B. SUN’S FURY: The power of a star, leashed to your Will. You are a brand against the darkness, the claim of Humanity to bind the elemental fire of the Universe. Those who oppose you, no matter how tall, will be but dust in the wind.
-SOLAR SWORD: Channel your will into you blade, burning with the power and heat of a star.

C. HEART OF THE JUNGLE: Call upon the raw power of Life itself. Unstoppable and unplaceable, your fury is that of Nature herself. The power you claim is older than Humanity itself, and will last long after you are gone.
-REGENERATION: Your blood is the essence of Life itself. It would take a complete disintegration to keep you down.

D. SHADOW AMONG THE STARS:  There are old things out in the darkness, where the light barely touches. Old and terrible things. Answer their call, gain a fraction of their power to do the things that must be done.
-PHASE: Ability to half enter and leave the Fade, allowing you to become insubstantial and pass through solid objects.
