Fire House

Fred, Daphne, and Velma listen intently, if a little suspiciously, to Cicivexa's speech.  Velma to her credit even manages to avoid questioning the obviously mystical references he makes at several points.

"Rhut Ro"

It seems Scooby and Shaggy wandered in some time, having thoroughly "investigated" the kitchen.

"Wait, you're saying whoever did all this is outside, waiting for us?"

Daphne gestures to Jerry's body and the circle and burn marks on the ground, resisting a gag as she gets a look at the body again.  Meanwhile Fred drifts off in thought, muttering.

"We might be able to catch him, but we'd need a few gallons of breadcrumbs, a net, some skies, a lot of twine aaaand..."

He shakes his head and frowns, then looks around the garage.

"We need more information, I don't have any idea how to bait them into a trap and we'll need time to find all the stuff, but if we need a quick way out..."

He snatches a set of keys off of a hook on the wall then runs over to the firetruck and opens the driver's door and pulls himself in.

"We might not stand a chance on foot, but we could get away in this."

"If this thing is as dangerous as we've been told, we probably don't want to walk out there and fight it on its terms. I'll do it if you all decide to, but I think taking the way out is probably the best plan here." She takes a few steps toward the firetruck for emphasis. "I feel like letting a supposed 'ambush predator' lure us to any specific location is a bad plan."

Lyra just hefted her wrench. "This thing has given me the run-around for long enough. I'm more than eager to pay it back with interest."

"...If this amulet works as we desire, then why was it not employed in its' banishment? Something went amiss. Our void mages may have never truly acquired it... or they merely failed to use it properly. Or mayhap it was destroyed, or hidden away... the demon's treachery, or the intervention of the smallfolk's drama?" And yet, what would be at risk if we did take this precautious search? We know not what it schemes, but it seems willing to wait until after we are dealt with. That implies it recognizes our threat and has a plan for us... or perhaps it merely seeks Fred. Come to think of it, how did it know to follow us? Lyra mentioned a tracker, though she destroyed it to our knowledge...

Cicivexa was dead still, while he muttered the known facts ad nauseam. It was difficult to tell whether the information relay was meant for himself or his companions. Until eventually, he paused.

"We have know guarantee that this demon won't be able to assault the carriage while we escape. And unless it is armed, then fighting it back in a closed moving vehicle leaves us vulnerable. It would be best if we stay out of it. That is...
...We split our forces. Fred, Velma, Daphne, Shaggy, Scooby-doo, take the carriage to the hospital and seek the amulet. If it tries to follow you, it will turn its back on us in doing so, and we can take the opportunity to hold it down. Even if it travels by the sky,"
he pushed his glasses up, "I can strike with guarantee from the roof. Alternatively, If it is intent on this ambush, we can fortify and await until either it grows tired and makes a move we can counter, or you return with a new advantage."

Fire House - Garage

As the party seems to come to a conclusion to stand and fight Fred nods and the rest of the Gang pile into the truck, save Scooby-doo who runs over to hit the button that operates the garage door before leaping up in the back of the cab with Shaggy.  The Firetruck roars the life and as the door opens you all see the figure snap it's head to the garage and stalk around the back of the Mystery Machine.

Once the garage door is open Fred hits the gas, letting the vehicle lurch forward and turning slightly to avoid the Mystery Machine.  It's at this moment the figure pops out on the other side of the Mystery Machine, directly in front of the Firetruck.  Whatever it had planned to do to stop it is met with a blaring horn and a loud, wet, THUD.

Fred breaks the truck slightly a few seconds later on the other side, hesitating and looking back in the mirror, only to gun it again as the mass of coat and crushed hat shifts and begins to reform.  Unphased by being run over.  Once standing the figure adjusts it's coat and hat and watches the Firetruck leave before turning back to "face" the party, for now you can see it has no face at all, only a dark shadowy writhing mass of worms.  You can hear the sound of many muffled voices coming from it's direction, each indistinguishable from the others like a crowd of conversations.

Arturia, seeing the inhuman abomination, wasted no time. She pulled the silvery blade from her chest with a shout and a burst of yellow lightning. Immediately, she felt her blood run cold, her limbs grow heavier, her chest begin to ache. She marched toward their foe, blade raised, then struck at the ealiest opportunity.

Arturia activates Perseverance, doubling her SYN and gaining a basic attack that deals 6d12+SYN damage, but taking 20% of her MHP in damage per turn.
Arturia activates Quick Thinking, exposing one weakness of the Worm Man. If it has no such weakness, it gains a lesser one.
Arturia makes a basic attack against the Worm Man.

Character Sheet for Lyra

Lyra twirled her wrench and darted to the other side, swinging twice to open up the Worm Man for further attacks.

Lyra attacks using Rush, dealing 1d6+DEX/2 Physical/Blunt damage each. If Lyra attacks Rush's target next turn with a different move, that move has 2 damage dice added.

Osada

Much like Arturia, Osada is quick to get into action upon seeing the figure manage to easily make it back to its feet, his magical circuits flaring to life as he dashed towards the worm man, tearing into him with a flurry of sword strikes.

Osada uses 5th Form, attacking 4 times for 6d4+(12 Strength) damage at 60% efficiency, as well as gaining a total of 60 charge for his Noble Phantasm.

Sakura left her main weapon to act as an accessoire for now as she focused the power of her limited Sorcery into an attack which would force it to attack her, all while preparing for it's inevitable counter attack on her.

Sakura uses Wicked Slice which deals 2d6 + 6 Dark damage and forces the target to focus Sakura for their next attack.

Sakura also uses a free action to activate Witch Time against the worm man which grants her a 100% dodge against a targeted enemy for a turn. If she successfully dodges an attack, she gains an extra action on her next turn.

Alexandria equips Transcendence, setting her HP to 228 Shield and 1 HP!  She hefts her hammer over one shoulder and mimes cracking her neck as she strides up to the Worm Man.  "You've been playing hard to get," She remarks as she reaches out and wraps her arm around his neck, shields flaring, "But now we've got you, and you're not going anywhere."

The Worm-Man is grappled!  While grappled, he moves after Alexandria, his attacks deal 11 (Alexandria's strength) less damage, and he cannot dodge attacks.  After 3 of his attacks have their damage reduced in this way, he is freed from the grapple.

Finally, this bastard was right where they wanted it. Rod already in hand, Cicivexa went for the standard opening.

Cicivexa casts Toa Blizzaga, dealing (8d6 + 17 + 10) / 2 Magic/Ice damage to the Worm-Man! On a successful INT check against the target's CON, the damage is doubled and the target is inflicted with Heavy for 2 turns (increasing the cooldowns of their actions by 1)!

Cicivexa gains 2 Umbral Hearts!

The Fruits of Hubris ripen, halving Cicivexa's magic damage unless he's under the effects of a defensive action!

Osada's blade lashes out in a flurry of blows that impact hard with the unflinching form of the Worm Man, dealing 7, 3, 8, and 10 damage.  He's absolutely sure the man should be bisected by the force and movement of his blade, yet there he stands barely tilting his hat to glance at Osada before Cicivexa's first spell followed up.
Several worms leap from the Figure onto Osada, giving him 1 stack of [Infested].

Cicivexa's ice spell seems to curve outside of where he sent it as it flies towards the still Figure, arcing just enough to land only a glancing blow against the Worm Man and dealing 3 damage. (27 vs 28 = PASS) The Worm Man seems unaffected by the scouring cold.

Lyra feels wet dull hits as she attempts to harass her target, dealing 0 and 0 damage.
Several worms leap onto Lyra, giving her 1 stack of [Infested].

Sakura’s blade of darkness bites, but not as well as she might’ve hoped, dealing only 6 damage.  The Figure’s head definitely shifts as she attacks though and his focus seems to be trained on her.
[Taunted, Witch Time]
Several worms leap from the Figure to Sakura, giving her 1 stack of [Infested].

As Arturia draws her blade and scans the battlefield she notices that the Figure has been largely impervious to weaker attacks and small-arms.  She also remembers Electricity tends to disrupt invertebrates like worms and similar creatures.
Her blade finds its way true into the center of the creature’s mass, drawing a guttural choking gasp from it as she deals 84 damage.
[Lighting/Electric damage bypasses DR]
Arturia takes 23 damage and several worms leap from her target onto her giving her 1 stack of [Infested].

As you all converge on the Figure the muffled voices and whispers grow louder, clearer, and more unified until they’re like a scream pounding in the back of your minds.  The Worm Man shifts and draws open his coat, revealing the expected inhuman mass of worms, but more importantly revealing the inner lining of the coat.  Twisted screaming faces stretch out of the leather, hands claw as if trapped under the surface trying to escape, and the voices become clear enough to understand.
“Abandon the lies of the self!  Purge the cancer of reality!  Join us and sever the injustice of consciousness, there can be only unity.  Only one existence.  Only void.”
As soon as the monologue begins Sakura and Lyra, already ready for some kind of attack, feel the hairs on the back of their necks rise, Sakura shifts into Witch Time just soon enough to slide around the mental assault and Lyra manages to cover her ears and close her mind in time to block it off.

Everyone except Sakura and Lyra gain a stack of Madness, increasing damage taken by 20%.

The Worm Man draws up a handful of himself and hurls it at Cicivexa, covering him in worms.  Cicivexa gains 3 stacks of [Infested].

Finally the Worm Man gestures and a ray of energy projects from his hand into Arturia, while sickening just to look at it the damage it does is even worse.  She takes 24 damage as she feels the energy being sapped out of her.

The Figure’s posturing does leave Alexandria with plenty of time to “sneak” up on him and grab him from behind, using the coat as a sort of bag to hold the mass of lesser creatures together and restrain it.  Even so, worms leap onto her and she gains 1 stack of [Infested].

The worms attempting to infest each of you start biting, squirming, and writhing their way into their new fleshy, or not-so-fleshy, hosts.  The worms deal 6 damage to Osada, 0 to Arturia, 5 to Lyra and Sakura, 12 to Cicivexa, and as they burrow into Alexandra discover she has no flesh to infest!

"Get this shit off me!" Arturia shouts, continuing to hack wildly at her opponent. She trusted the raging torrent of electricity around her to fry the worms before too long, but that didn't mean this wasn't basically straight out of the kind of horror movie she refused to watch.

Arturia attacks again for 6d12+SYN (24) damage. She has SYN/2 (12) damage reduction and inflicts the same amount of damage on melee attackers.

Sakura tries her best to dance around the worms, but to no avail. As they bite their way into her flesh, she can't help but be thrown off from her natural Rhythm of fighting. She wouldn't be performing quite as well as she did before, but that wouldn't stop her from trying to show this...thing what it had coming.

Sakura is out of breath! She deals 30% less damage for the rest of the battle.

Sakura triggers Combo, increasing damage dealt to the worm man by 30%

Sakura activates Wicked weave (Weapon) and taunts her opponent, dealing 2d4 (deals 50% less damage) psychic damage and increasing damage she deals to them by 50% while increasing damage she takes from the worm man by 50%!

Sakura uses her next action for another Wicked Slice, dealing 2d6 + 6 (Halved) Dark/Magic damage and taunting the worm man!

Sakura uses the free action granted by Witch time to attack with a dark crescent, dealing 2d8 + Dex (12) Physical Bludgeoning damage.

Sakura uses a free action to activate Witch time on the worm man, gaining 100% dodge against them for this turn.

If Osada noticed the worms trying to burrow into his flesh, then the swordsman didn't seem to show it. Instead, he simply takes a step back, crossing his blades as his magical circuitry flared across his body, his blades shimmering as he pumped more magic into them.

Osada uses Roaring Winds, adding his Dex to any attack that doesn't already use it for three turns. He currently has 65 NP charge
