Fire House - Garage
Snatching the tome Martyr is a little sickened as the fabric bindings squelch with water damage from the slime dried on the outside. Fortunately being closed kept the pages from being damaged anywhere but the very edges. As she leafs through it she immediately recognizes the name of a book she'd seen in the Mayor's office, "Magic Bananas: History of Farming Rituals in Central and South America", the pages fall open on a well-worn and dogeared section, passages talking about a number of old spirits called on only in times of great famine. One of the pages has an artistic sketch of a large intricate circle set in mural in the floor of some begotten ruin. The circle is similar to the one in the room, but different some way she doesn't recognize until she reads the notes in the margins.
"Summoning circle. Use with candles and blood. Reverse for banishing? Need amulet, out of time."
The circle in the center of the room is an exact reversal of the one shown in the book.
At around this point there's a shuffling around the corner, then a loud clicking sound and flash, then Velma sticks her head around the corner camera in hand.
"Jinkies! What on earth happened here?"
There's another click and a flash as she snaps another photograph of the scene before moving into the room to take a closer look and get more pictures.
Fire House - Second Floor
Dropping through the window into the room the roof crew finds themselves in a small living area with a bed, desk, and other accommodations. On the desk is a mess of papers and another one of the monstrous dinosaurs of computers with a CRT monitor. The door leads out onto the second floor walkway, with connection to the stairs, other room on this level, and to the walkway in the garage.
Cicivexa does notice a few scant resemblances to some of the summoning or banishing rituals he's seen before. Definitely working off of completely different principals, but still mimicking some of the same effects. It's odd really how much overlap there is in the magic of worlds so different. An additional scan of the other rooms confirms the same as before, no signs of life aside from the party and no strange or suspicious shapes, you're alone here.
