The giant spider and Brynn both strike the spider for [28] and [50] damage, respectively. This puts a hole through the Rathian's wing, and splits apart the hardened carapace protecting her head, but she manages to buffet her attackers before
lifting herself into the air. She almost loses flight, awkwardly moving in a sort of aerial stumble;
if she isn't stopped this turn, she will escape.\

Mira takes a moment to heal, recovering [29] HP.
Newton, meanwhile, flies up to greet their new guest. A very similar-looking wyvern, but this one in red and black, roars at him as it beelines for the Rathian. The tail has a few bony spikes, in comparison to the Rathian's forest of barbs, but the talons look much sharper.
Rathalos will arrive in one turn. . . . As he looks closer, several spines that seem to be pointed the wrong way make themselves apparent. The back spines probably shouldn't be growing from the beast's flank, either.

The climb up the cliff, while strenuous, is fairly uneventful. It sounds like there are
some animals panicking among the mushroom forest at the lowest elevation, but that's far from being a problem. . . probably.
When they reach the top, they see a sort of sandy canyon, with the walls being composed of stacked shelves of coral. They just keep going up, more walkable surfaces interspersed between mossy cliff faces and sheer drops. More signs of their quarry are here, the same birdlike footprints looking somewhat fresh in the soft sand. The walls bear several scratches as well, as if some beast repeatedly clawed at them.
