"Elder... Dragons?" The draconic woman's interest immediately perked up at the notion. The title had a very... specific meaning back home. Namely it was used to refer to her father, or rather the concept his appearance in the world had demonstrably proven; a dragon so powerful as to rival gods and other greater beings of mana, their very existence constituting the equivalent of a new world power to contend with. How curious it was to hear it uttered in another world.

"Pray tell, good commander; what are they like in this world? How many do they number?"

Kraken

Kraken looks between the areas for a few moments, listening to the minor debate about where to go. Finally, he nods to himself. "What's going on in the Rotten Vale? I have experience in environments with hazardous materials in the air so unless anyone else does, I'm probably the safest choice."

They'll do nicely.  Now, I don't really have many conjuring tools with me, but I should still be able to come up with something...

Attempt to get the kids interested in me, leading up to some sort of charades.  I want to get them following my lead.

Since none of my moves are capable of doing any damage, I can play with the kids with them.

Start by using Harass to bounce the ball away from kids.. keep it from reaching them, or 'steal' the ball by having it bounce off the black barrier around one of the kids, preventing that kid from getting it.

At some point, use Yoink! to prevent someone from jumping, or running, or kicking at an appropriate moment.  After doing that, swoop down and join a team properly, hitting the ball physically and trying to help out.

When they get tired, move to conjuring, by producing an amusingly large pile of black feathers, one or two at a time, plucked from the middle of my chest.

Cell nods slowly at the captains explanation and Kraken's addition.
"We should go in groups.  We are seven, so one of four and one of three."
He leans in to get a closer look at the map from his seat.
"I can go anywhere.  Mostly machine and half dead."

Mira

Giving a swift nod to the Commander to note that she heard him, Mira continued studying the map, silently listening to the rest of the group before tilting her head at the notion of teams, "Tch. I can handle the Ancient Forest by myself. It's as simple as culling whatever wildlife gets in my way and finding tracks. If there's an 'Elder Dragon' in the area, then I'll just eliminate it as well."

Brynn

Brynn tossed the armored woman a look as if she were insane, but otherwise did not acknowledge her outburst. She sensed magical power radiating off of her, true, but it was nowhere near enough to slay a dragon single-handedly. Let alone an Elder, if they were indeed anything like her world's. While lasting alone out in that forest wasn't exactly out of the question- she'd done it for a few hours herself as she'd waited for them to arrive -thinking that she could slay whatever would come her way was a dangerous delusion.

Or over-confidence.

Brynn wasn't entirely sure which.

Cell turns to look at Mira, the green and orange blob behind his mask churning with a hollow stare.
"We want to kill monsters.  Not feed them."

Mira

For a moment, Mira returned Cell's stare, eyes narrowing as she seemed ready to retort. Ultimately, however, she merely let out yet another "tch" before turning back to the map. She didn't have the energy to deal with this right now.

Kraken

The operator subtly pinched the bridge of his nose before sighing. "Guys, how about we have a little team meeting before we head out? Clearly we need to talk about this."

"I agree, Operative Kraken," Captain Saejik says, "Hunting predatory megafauna alone, without a plan, is a fantastic way to become part of the food chain, but quite unlikely to get much else done.  We need to coordinate our deployments and form a plan of action, as well as acquire any available intelligence from the locals, before we set out.  Otherwise, defeat is all but guaranteed before we even begin."

Brynn

"Agreed." Brynn nodded. "Not even I am eager to face some of the things I saw as I awaited you in that forest. The bat bearing a pine-cone mantle especially...I would've presumed the poor beast cancerous, were it not for the... explosions."

She practically shuddered at the mere memory of it. Something about that abomination was just so... unnerving to her. Though it may have also been because the time she'd spent looking up at it had been the same time used by the little lizards to sneak up and start nipping at her heels. Her tail had swatted the first few away, but the sword had started flying when it became clear they wouldn't leave her be.

Venus

From the Commander's description, what lied ahead seemed to be an "elder dragon", which suggested a high-ranking reptilian beast by name, though Venus wondered if the beast had some semblance of intelligence rather than being a mere brutish creature. The area they were to venture into also seemed to possess some toxin of sorts, though Venus was not qualmed by that news, for he had all the protection he needed donned upon his face already. And as foreign as the substance might be in this world, Venus did have prior experience in such gasses, as they comprised part of the work he dabbled in and against.

"I would take it that we are not dealing with a single beast in this case," Venus asked, "To have more than one of these dragons of which you describe is, I presume, a common occurrence in this world? Any particular relationships as far as prey and predator goes?"

IP

"I would also like to have a meeting to organize the team. I am still unfamiliar with how you fight, and I imagine this lack of familiarity is mutual." IP looked over at the map herself, uncertain of where to go, but willing to trust in the others' judgement.

How curious it was to hear it uttered in another world.

"Pray tell, good commander; what are they like in this world? How many do they number?"

"We haven't gotten a good estimate of their exact numbers," the Commander replied, "but there are more than usual to be found in the New World. They're still incredibly rare, and without being able to pin down an exact habitat it's hard to keep track of them. Especially since it's hard to tell if you've actually killed one or not. As for what they're like, they're the most powerful and dangerous foes a hunter can meet. We still can't explain how most of them do what they do, just that they're full of bioenergy and almost every creature in the world knows to give them a wide berth. Except the Sapphire Star, of course, but she's exceptional."
Kraken

Kraken looks between the areas for a few moments, listening to the minor debate about where to go. Finally, he nods to himself. "What's going on in the Rotten Vale? I have experience in environments with hazardous materials in the air so unless anyone else does, I'm probably the safest choice."

The Admiral responded to Kraken's question with a laugh. "What isn't goin' on in the Vale? Old stinky-wings doesn't seem to have stopped half the monsters there from goin' nuts over whatever's over there. It's probably not Vaal Hazak itself, unless it's something that's got HIS underwear in a twist. Tigrex sightings are low, sadly, but I'd expect an Odogaron to jump on you at any moment if you went there now."

Newton

Newton finds the kids a bit spooked by the obvious magic initially, and this almost scares them off, but once it's clear that it won't hurt anything, the fear turns to curiosity. He finds the kids have far, far more stamina than he anticipated; if he was a truly physical existence, he probably would be tiring right now; they're still playing with just as much, if not more vigor than before. The spectacle attracts the attention of more than one adult, too, with similar reactions of initial suspicion followed by relaxation.

"Everything is prey to an elder dragon if it decides so. The only recorded examples we have of anything overpowering an elder dragon are Rajang hunting down Kirin to eat their horns. If you see one of those, you should turn the other direction." The Commander glanced to his side, where the Admiral towered over him. "They look a bit like him."

"I do have hazardous environment equipment... of a sort, but I had hoped to keep that particular card close to the chest until I had a better idea of how these creatures fight from personal observations," Saejik considers, "But we do not have to hit these objectives simultaneously, do we?  It might be better to feel out one of the less dangerous encounters first before committing to the Rotten Vale.  Still, if you are planning to go there immediately, I can get us a vehicle with effective NBC seals for the mission.  My engineers will insist on having it in for maintenance after combat operations though, and I had hoped to have it adjusted for combat against beasts before deploying it, though.  Gigantic creatures aren't nearly as common of threats as infantry and military vehicles back home.  The All-Terrain Tactical Enforcer held up well enough on Felucia, but these creatures you've described sound far more formidable than the Ackleys we faced there."
