The water is unremarkable save for its purity. It seems to be almost untouched by any form of contaminant.

There's little else of note as you travel through the dark passage. The leftover spines have stopped appearing, although a keen eye might see a few scrape marks against the stone walls.

Almost as if answering Saejik's wish, the corridor soon opened into a wide underground chamber. Near the back was an enormous mass of crystal, with something glowing brightly within. Something massive, in a translucent cocoon.

Something is very wrong here. You can feel it.

"This is not the creature we were advised to slay." The princess wasn't sure how she knew that so certainly, as she stepped forward and bid the other's halt once they reached the chamber. Her face was rather grim as she focused her senses to try and feel any ambient flows of magic or the corruption thereof in the room. "But I have a feeling we may have to slay it nonetheless... Curious how the spikes have ceased, the closer we came here. It seems not even the Ruiner is willing to encroach this far."

Oh yeah the magic around here is all kinds of fucked up. It's like whatever is in the cocoon is warping reality around it.

Does this world even have magic? You haven't felt any until now.

She stared at the cocoon with ill intent. It seemed the nagging in the back of her mind when they entered the chamber had not, in fact, merely been a fluke. If there was magic to be had in this world, chances were it was not of the same kind permeating the space around them. And that they would be better off taking care of it now, in a pupating state, rather than waiting for it to mature. To Brynn there was but one logical conclusion.

"Friends, I fear we may have stumbled upon the Trespasser. Whatever is inside yonder cocoon feels distinctly alien and improper to this world..."

"... For once, you actually say something smart" Mira comments dryly as she stares at the cocoon, "The dragon will be a secondary priority for now. Let's deal with this before it decides to finish its metamorphosis" she adds shortly afterwards, already beginning the march towards the cocoon, drawing her blade as dark mist started to gather around her.

The cocoon begins to shift and crack as Mira steps forward. The earth - and reality itself - seem to groan as a single, massive foot hits the ground. Undifferentiated save for unnervingly human-like nails jutting out the front, a tide of abyssal mud falls with it, pooling and giving off ethereal wisps of blue and purple. A second joins it, followed by an enormous, pale body and a pair of forelimbs with wicked claws that crunch the stone where they strike, before it erupts in a spray of further mud. The rest of the chrysalis falls away to reveal a terrible visage that defied description, with too many eyes set in lines on either side above a too-deep mouth full of far, far too many teeth. Stubby, but still thick and powerful horns curl back along the beast's head, and claws at the apexes of its wings slam into the earth, the immense limbs still too fresh to bear their own weight.

childhood in flames

A roar of a singularly unsettling sound blasts forth from the creature, some blend of a draconic shout and a woman's voice singing that grated at the senses. The creature takes a single step forward, and the tide gathering about its feet advances.

Hoping the creature's fresh emergence had left it as unsteady as a typical newborn, Brynn decided to seize the opportunity while it still existed. Said opportunity consisting of trying to knock the creature off balance with a well placed swing of her battering ram of a tail to the side of its head.

Brynn uses Tail Sweep on the Timat Xeno, dealing 2d4+(14) Physical/Blunt damage and forcing a check of her Str (20) vs Tiamat Xeno's Con. If Xeno fails, it is knocked Prone for 1 turn (Prone targets are unable to use melee based attacks or actions, and take an additional level*2 (12) damage from attacks.)

Kraken saw the beast rearing back for a slam, the size of it telling him instantly that he should probably defend, and fast.
Kraken uses Frag Out and then uses basic defend to protect against the slam.

Saejik certainly doesn't want to underestimate the dragon, but at the same time, being too passive feels like an enormous mistake as the creature's energy builds.  "Come on, everyone!  We must strike it down before it can steady itself!  It's struggling to stand!  Attack the legs, and the body shall fall!"  Saejik uses Lead From the Front, giving himself, Mira, and Instructor Prototype 20 temporary HP and +6 attack damage for 3 rounds.  Mira and IP seem like they'll be best able to use the encouragement.

Saejik triggers his Idea Disc.  It doesn't provide any useful insights, but it does begin charging the AT-TE.

Idea Disc is on cooldown for 3 rounds.

Mira only narrows her eyes as the newborn trespasser emerges from its cocoon, faintly remembering this one from long, long ago. Which, surprisingly, was rather nice. She could finally finish the job.

Mira starts off by just whacking Tiamat Xeno with her weapon, dealing 7d8+14 damage. She currently has 1 Magra, and will gain an extra one in two turns.

Brynn attempts to sweep her tail at Tiamat Xeno to destabilize the monster and inflicts [19] damage, [32 vs 60] but the attack fails to so much as make it blink. Brynn feels the Chaos Tide eating at her being, and loses 13 MHP.

Saejik begins barking orders to organize and invigorate the party, yielding 20 THP for himself, Mira, and IP. Him and his troopers lose 2 HP each.

Kraken throws a grenade and braces for impact. He loses 11 MHP.

Tiamat Xeno's forelimbs slam into the earth, shaking the cavern and kicking up a vicious spray of dust, stone shards, and acrid mud, dealing [17] damage to Kraken and [34] to everyone else. Two of Saejik's guards are forced to retreat.

IP, a bit belatedly, defends. She loses 7 MHP.

Mira gashes Tiamat's ankle open for [50] damage. She loses 12 MHP.

The ceiling trembles, loose rock and dust scattering from it and raining down. Tiamat roars, then begins to heave her monstrous body toward Mira in a charge.

Ignoring the mud gathering at her feet, Mira narrows her eyes as the beast roars at her, preparing to charge. Any normal human would turn tail and run, with the focus of the Trespasser on them.

Not Mira. Not a true weapon.

Instead of backing down, Mira instead held her stance, bringing her sword up as dark shadows coiled around her.

Mira uses Lunar Stance, canceling the next attack made against her, and dealing 7d8+3d6+18 damage back. This move is also a priority move, activating at the start of the turn. She currently has 1 Magra, and will gain an extra in one turn.

Fighting the temptation to try and counter the tides with her flames, Brynn instead settled on following the Arisen's suggestion: finding an opening to hack away at the massive beast while it was distracted.

Brynn attacks Tiamat Xeno with Arisen, Dealing 6d10+[14] Physical/Slashing Damage. Arisen's Dragon gauge increases to 1/7. Brynn regenerates 11 HP.

IP turned to Kraken and Mira and began to give careful advice on where best to aim and how to control their weapons.

IP uses Weapon Guidance on Kraken and Mira, giving them a 10% boost to weapon damage for the next three turns.
