If Toady codes air pressure in, the imperfections of the system could suck all your fortress up through the breach on the mountain top due to pressure difference.  :)

The pressure difference would have to be pretty darn significant.  And it would need to use flow calculations besides.  THINK OF THE CPU CYCLES!  THINK OF THE CYCLES!

The tower of babel is part of the christian mythology. According to the story man wanted acces to heaven to become as mighty as God. God got pissed about the idea and gave all different languages so that they couldnt work together.

Still i cant quite see “Mason Ber clothgroin suspends tower of babel, new language.”

An excellent way to wage war on other dwarves! Maybe goblins could exploit it, too.

About the blood river movie:

Maybe blood should get dispersed better? You don't want a dwarf cutting his finger and bleed all over the world...

YAY, bloodflows! does blood is liquid on its own or is it just water in which blood spilled? could i make a lake of blood to give my dwarves a good place to bath? =) heh... make a bloodshower at barracks exit so every warrior going to fight will be all over in blood to scare enemies =)
also, i kinda liked how blood was going through the river... probably it is not very realistic (which i dunno coz never tried to test that... maybe i should... where's that cat of mine?), but it is interesting and fun, so let it be =)

It did look a bit like there'd been a major battle upstream towards the end.  I guess Toady's happy with the blood like that tho' or he'd not have posted a movie of it.

Haha, the 'Tower of Babel' idea is great...but instead of a default 'climbed to high' message to end the game, Armok would instead instantaneously make all your dwarves insane, and you'd get to watch them run around run around babbling and smashing things and slaughtering each other until the last one standing punches a bridge, falls 15+ levels into the river and drowns.

Will flows "push" things? Or carry things with them? i.e., if Tragedy Mule was redone, would the mule corpse come washing out of the silo, or would it remain as it did in the earlier iteration?

Also, if I make a water silo, for example, with floodgates opening onto a narrow ledge with a pit on the far side, and then open the floodgates, will that wash the goblins into the pit?

As it is in the current release flows have a chance of pushing objects.  I had a very nice tree farm ruined because a stone rolled into the floodgate opening

It was the first time it happened, so I hadn't even thought of it 'till then.  A later flooding of the cave river removed the blockage, but by then I had already worsened my situation (and lost ~5 dabbling miners...).

A minor issue with the bloodflow; shouldn't it stain the shores of the river?  It does in the current version of DF.  I always love how gory my river shore is after a great siege ending in a valliant charge to repell the green scum.

MyLittlePonyBuiltMyHotRod, this is your first warning. I would like to direct you to read our forum's FAQ and posting guidelines before posting again. Specifically we don't use swear words here, and your picture of Stalin riding a Year3 Limited Edition Starflower inside a German concentration camp was both upsetting and historically inaccurate.

Thats only the natural floods. Floodgate floods do not move objects. I really hope the flows can push things with the new release... then I can make my self harvesting farms. ;D
