It sure as hell will be. Everyone must keep a log of how poorly their first fortress fares  :D

On another note, how the hell is the DF Map Archive going to cope with multi level fortresses?

I think that it will cope the same way - only players will submit a separate map for each level.

And yeah, the new DF will be quite more challenging. I'm happy about the features that are included, but I can't help but think about the level of complexity that DF will achieve. In fact, it begins catching up in "techiness" with the recent commercial games. "Maelstrom" was the first RTS with both deformable landscape and flowing liquids. DF is now going to be the second, and quite a lot more thought through in other respects, too. What will be next? The scope of the plans laid out before Toady are immense. I just *really* hope Toady will cope better than Derek Smart did..

It's all fun and games until someone destroys the concept of reality.

When the new version comes out I really want to try and avoid reading things as much as possible to try and keep things to surprise me. I really wish that I haden't read the Wiki before. It meant that things like Adamantium and Demon pits weren't a surprise so I could prepare for them.

On a mildly related topic: would it be possible to set up the forum to actually send you to the last page/post when you click "Last Post" on the forum page?

I'm not worried about this. Everyone will probably be trying it out within a day and we'll spend the whole rest of the week sharing our (mis)adventures and discoveries.

Also, I often read the "Today's active topics" page, but it always opens the first page of the topic. Mildly annoying.
Oh, and after you post something it should bring you to the last page, too.

I'll probably play a fortress for awhile and fail miserably myself.
Then once I fail I'll mess around in adventure mode for a bit and think 'Oh yea!  In the old version I made a custom civ that could fly! I wonder how the flight interface works with it?'.
And then I'll spend the rest of the month trying to figure out all the new modding tags.

And it will be the second happiest month of my life...just barely getting beat out  by the month that I got addicted to Dr. Pepper.

Back when the game was more recently out, people on the forums would put a spoiler warning on threads talking about the demons and so such. I think we should have a similar policy for the new Endgame, at least for a week or so.
