Just a goat?  Heck I'm gonna sacrifice one of every species of creature in my fortress in my new improved goblin death chamber.

Thats a lot of creatures, considering I got the zoo mod. (don't remember the creator's name, it doesn't have a self crediting readme, and I can't seem to find it the boards anymore) So thats at least 5 different species, plus 1 chocobo I made on a whim after posting on the board.

If that still doesn't work I'll sacrifice breeding pairs for you.   :D

EDIT: Been awhile but updating this for anyone reading through backlog. Zoo mod appears to have been made by Chariot. That is all, dismissed.

If I had the money to create a new and improved goblin death chamber in real life I could just buy Mr. The Great a new laptop.  ;)

New laptop? Only? I'd buy him a new house and fund the staff/stuff needed to keep him as productive as possible.

Uh oh... ominously flickering for a few seconds sounds like the backlight or its inverter is going on a journey.  If the screen is pink/reddish while first warming up, it's definitely the tube.  Either way the data is in no danger.

Even if the screen goes dead one can always use an external monitor.  It would be like a very slim desktop.  ^.^  Not very portable, though.

Replacing the backlight tube is possible but not for the squeamish, speaking from recent experience.  However, if it's the inverter, a replacement could be gotten second-hand from a popular auction site and replaced with no more than a half hour of screwdrivering.  It really depends on the model, but it's much cheaper than a whole laptop.  (Yay laptops!)

I keep forgetting to ask this, but will workshop sites be rotatable in the near future? More specifically, Magma-forges, and Mills and stuff that require squares to be attached to magma or water? In these new maps, I assume, that we won't simply have magma running vertically, and horizontal streams would make it hard to place those workshops which depend on them. Sorry if this has already been answered, but I can't see it anywhere.

I want to appoint all my nobles to be "indoor plumbing operators".

...wait, I can already do that.

Nooo... Toady mentioned pulling the nobles from the local dwarves. Not the mysterious unending pile of purple pixels in the father kingdom.

Well there's good news and bad news.

The good news is that Toady is feeling better.

The bad news is that the new DF is likely to come out exactly when I'm going to be the busiest. I doubt that I'll have any spare time at all.

Oh well, such is life in eternity's grasp.

I was wrong. 3D water isn't awsome.
Deciding who gets to be an administrator out of your dwarves is.

You can't rotate workshops at this point, and I'm not exactly sure what the future of that is.  Some of them with special squares need to be turnable, but the table blockage things might be more trouble than it's worth in general, and I'm not sure what the future of the workshops are in general.

Awesome! Being able to appoint nobles is exactly what I wanted to be able to do.

(Hmm, another place for 'retired veterens' to go...)

What has been done with the nobles requirements? Do you still need to fill them to be able to appoint?

Maybe just make the four corners of every workshop impassable and the rest walkable, so that workshops won't need to be rotated and people will be able to keep nice layouts.
