psh,

Throwing feces from a tantruming legendary dwarf would wreck the game.

Have you seen the damage done from a Butterfly wing?
Well at least HE has to find more butterflies to keep wrecking organs.

A dwarf up to his eyeballs in fecal matter would put siege engines to shame...

Speaking of launching fecal matter... would they gain experience as a Seige Operator?

This don't happen enough for me to pass it up... How did we go from using flows as garbage removal...to radiation...to *cough* impromptu siege weaponry?

I think I just got whiplash.

Urist Randomname has been unhappy recently. He has smelt something foul recently. He has soiled his pants recently. He has been concerned about the lack of Toilets recently.

Toady, I see in the latest development logs that you note that you play as well as code, and I can only imagine that the times required have changed somewhat since the current release. Since I know you check in here occasionally, what area world generation and game save times looking like lately?

One thing i'm curious about is the shape of the new chasms.

Will they still stretch across the entire mountain or are they centralized now?
Are they still vertical or do we also have diagonal(horizontal?) ones?
Do they go only a few floors up or is the mountain rended in two from the base to the peak?

I would guess, since there is no longer a garante for the cave river, that the same goes for a chasm or magma. You might have it or you might not. The space is probably unique for the map as well.

World generation is a bit faster, because finalization of hist figs no longer occurs, and that also makes offloading faster.  Game saving is probably a little slower, but it hasn't really seemed so much worse.

Chasms cut from some level down to the bottom in whatever direction.  And they can also be pits.  A given chasm is placed somewhere within its world map square.  World map squares are 768x768, and a chasm can run around in there where it likes.  A standard play area is 480x480, so if there is a chasm in a map square you might still miss it when you place your fortress.

If I get this right 768*768 - 480*480 = 359,424 cells that cannot be reached in fortress mode. What those cells are used for? It it's some sort of buffer to prevent the need of loading surrounding map squares during fortress mode? Are they truly unreachable by dwarves?

So, how much more can an adventurer do in the next version?
I really want to make a cave beside a city in adventure mode.

some random things:

Arthur Dent cancels fall: forgot to hit ground.
Arthur Dent cancels bob: remembered.

I feel like downloading a new version every week.
If there isn't a new version, I'll start from the oldest I dont have.

Toady has said before that we will be able to choose the size of our play area. Its one of the things hes doing for those of us with smaller pc's. Not sure if its this version or not, thats up to the Toad.

I know a while ago there were to be fifteen levels up and fifteen levels down from the starting level, so 31 levels in all.  Not sure if that's still the plan.
