New movie at bottom HERE.  There are a few bugs with the blinking Cs and the ground shows as sky at the end for some unknown reason, but the basics are there.

I haven't moved the name generator for fortresses over to adventurers yet, but it seems like something I should do at some point.

Holy flipping cow.  There's so much stuff in the new version...  That's insane!  I thought the only noteable things being added were multiple levels and the rewalling...  I had no clue!

I wonder if Toady has as much fun playing Dwarf Fortress we do...  Dang, that looks like fun.

Good lord! The potential for mindless cruelty has been multiplied a thousandfold!

The transition to seeing "sky" only two levels up still seems a bit grating. Any chance of getting some intermediate levels of visibility gradient, at least for the shape of terrain (representing objects and critters at lower levels would be too problematic, so might as well skip it)? Like maybe have floors two floors down show up as plain black, and/or use a gradient of sky-ish blocks, going from black space with thin bluish lines through several progressively heavier levels of "skyishness" until you reach the current aqua-colored space with thin black lines?

The mule vid. has made me wonder two things.  Scaffolds.  Swimming.

What would happen if the mule was chained to the wall and a trapdoor (bridge) opened under it?

If I edited files when the new version is released so that I'm amphibious, can I dive or ascend in water?  (/me wonders what that'll be like - undiscovered sea creatures and all).

You can drown nobles like that as well. Every bad mandate earns you a bucket of water.

Looking very good, very good indeed. Next update, we can use magma and water to create enough steam pressure to shoot the poor mule up to the skies?

Why propel cows on the opposing army, if we have perfectly expendable mules.

Hanging a mule with a trapdoor would just make you a Dwarven Michael Vick.

Still though, freaking cool. It makes me want to stop playing the current version, as I know that I'll have to start again quite soon, hopefully.

Heh! The mule drowning was pretty awesome, and it was great to finally see the rewalling in action. To see that they are smooth walls was one lesson, and that dwarves may or may not wall in the order you place them (well, that's what I figured by Toady placing each wall one by one - unless not more than one can be placed?).

So Toady, when you say dwarves can't place objects to the side and down (as to drop something over an edge onto someone else), then how is dumping done?

You and ThreeToe continue to give us great satisfaction!

Just as a complete aside here, if, for instance, I had like a massive Ogre in a pit to use against particularly offensive nobles, like the Rancor beast from Star Wars, would there be a way to feed it or would it just eventually starve to death?

Sure, you would just dump him some goblin corpses.
