Wizards can't fly if they're unconscious though

RE: the Pond Designation.
Will ponds work like resivores? I could see a large chamber up higher in the mountain, with pipes running down into the floors below farms, smaller pools, and Noble's rooms. Then teams of bucket-wielding dwarves keep the resivore full of water, while levers allow for water flow at any spigot. (PS Firefox is telling me that's not how to spell resivore, so SIC)

Pathfinding has always been in for Z levels, because of adventure mode.

Right now you fall all the way to the ground when you fall.  I've considered adding intervening turns, but it'll require some rewriting of projectile handling in general.  In adventure mode, it has all projectiles (including falling units) resolve automatically so that you can't dodge arrows automatically.  I know projectile weapons are overpowered, but that's not the issue in this case.  At the same time, it would be fine to allow you to step out of the way of a falling unit.  At the same time, allowing automatic dodging of a hurled unit (by allowing intervening moves) seems problematic.

You can fill anything with water using pumps and so on.  A pond is just an additional mechanic that will allow you to fill an area with buckets of water and also place creatures that can swim in the area.  Depending on how other animal containment works in the future, the animal placement function might get spread out, but the water filling might stick.  Dunno.  Water might evaporate too quickly right now for it to even be meaningful...

All I really wanna know is: besides donating (Done!), what can we do to help get the next release out?

Sorry if these been asked already, but I don't want to search through 20 pages.

Does flying for extended time fatigue creatures that can fly?

Will dwarves in fortress mode be able to jump or climb things? If so, will they need rigs or ropes? (same thing applied to adventure mode)

Will things "d"ropped in adv mode from a height damage creatures below it?

Is falling damage implemented? Like legs/ankles breaking, etc?

Will we be able to control fire breathing in adv mode now?

How are you and this game so awesome, Toady?

Is there a mechanical device for vertical liquid control?

Will trees have tops now, that may be walked on or block flying? Also, can trees be climbed?

will the trees be climbable?

They better be, otherwise how are we gonna take down those damned elves :P

is there mechanic for controlling z-axis fluid flows?

Woulda thought floodgate would have worked, it blocks the original 4 motions...

the spinning bb round hits jack johnson, scumbag in the lower body!
it is pierced through entirely!
his right kidney has been poked out!
his liver has been mangled!

jack johnson, raider has been shot and killed.

The above (including bbcode) neatly weighs in at 255 characters. Fallout meets DF

Toady's already dedicated himself to working on DF full-time, man. There's nothing we can do short of be patient or invent a time machine to see the release hit sooner. He's working as hard as he can, which is a lot more work than I think most people realize. I'm sure his hours spent per week working on this game is staggering compared to other freeware developers out there.

I know, I can tell by the progress reports, they're quite impressive! I just want to be a helper, though my skills are probably insufficient. That's why i didn't ask what can I do to make Toady go faster, but rather what else can we all do to help, if anything (besides donate of course. hopefully we've all done that)

Honestly, I can't remember the last time an upcoming game release got me this excited. If there weren't concerns at home about making the mortgage, I'd be donating nore to the cause. This game's as good as any I've paid for in a retail box, and it has many features of the 'ideal' game taht I've long wished I had the skills to code. I mean wow. being able to play adventurer, mayor, and from the sound of things eventually General and King? All in the same persistent world? Wow!!!!!

Unfortunately, I don't do patient well.

Let's not forget that giddy anticipation is half the fun!  It makes the final product that much more savory.

My friends are thinking of having an intervention to unhook me from playing the game for 10 minutes, then checking the devlist, then playing the game more.
They think I'm crazy! I mean common I haven't even attempted to create an artifact...yet.

Look at it this way. In order to create an artifact you'd need to withdraw from society. This would get your friends to leave you alone.

Ok. I'm fairly new to all this, but reading a few of the posts in this thread, my mond is just boggling. Check me if I'm wrong, but it looks as thoug it would be possible -nay- fun, to take a fortress, march an army, then go make an opposing hero in adventure mode, and have the hero wander until he finds and clashes with the army?

Droooooooolllllllll.........
