I changed the only cgi file containing the relevant text, and it didn't show any changes, even if I inserted whole words in there.  Dunno what's going on.

Doesn't the server have to be restarted for the changes to actually work?  I've never worked with cgi, but I recall that is the case for .py files with ModPython. . .

Oh, probably.  I dunno what I'm doing.  It's just that changes have been reflected more quickly in the past.

edit:  Oh, hey, look at that.

I think it worked, everything is spaced weirdly now. The original stretching problem did NOT happen on firefox btw, it wraps it properly.

It didn't wrap properly on my Firefox.

edit:  Did that work reasonably well for people that were having issues?  If it's ugly, we can change it again.

Yeah, there we go. Much better with it wrapping that way if I do say so myself.   ;)
I use Firefox and it was stretching the screen for me as well.
EDIT: just checked in IE7 and Opera, looks fine now in them as well of course.

I'm just gonna assume you did something good and congratulate you. I'm on a widescreen laptop and hadn't actually noticed anything wrong, though.

So, thanks.

For those of us who don't feel like going out and getting a fancy-shmancy wide-screen, Thank You!

...What was this topic about, again?  ;)

Here's something I'm curious about: I may have missed something, but there are no more rivers, but instead little pockets of water, right?  If so, are chasms and magma handled the same way (With chasms extending down into the lowest levels)?  Will pockets of liquids refill themselves in some manner?

It's not important, I'm just curious.  Sorry if it's been answered before...

As I understand it, there will still be rivers.  The normal map features we're used to right now just aren't that will be there in every site.

I've a feeling they still will be in every site, just their location will be much less predictable. -I could be wrong though.

Right now there's a river underground in every mountain tile, but it's kind of tricky to locate a pipe like that running through 3D, so as I might have mentioned, there will be something or other to help.

If you have a widescreen and want to experience the intense new page number wrapping, you can bring your browser down to a window and then start resizing it and watch the number list morph.  I've done it.  It's pretty exciting.

I was wondering, Toady, if you have thought of adding disease and pestilence to the game? Maybe something like an undead disease that spreads by contact.

I realize that something like this might add significantly to the already tough difficulty of the game, but even a basic disease template might be fun for player made modifications. I mean I went in and made all my dwarves space dwarves colonizing a planet, and I'm having a blast playing in a Warhammer 40k-like environment.
