It’s been a while since I was here, shouldn’t we tend to Edi’s wounds?

It's not his blood.

We've gone to town to get an axe so we can build the treehouse.

This is Dwarf Fortresss. A wooden training axe works just as well for felling trees as an actual steel one.

This can be obtained through trickery by causing a cave-in, if one has no tools.  All you need is a clay harvest spot, and kiln workshop (made of anything fireproof, including a boulder).  Construct a multi-Z wall, with a "floating" floor over projecting from it, over the top of some peripheral branches of a tree, using clay boulder.  Deconstruct the ground-level section of said wall.  Cave-in occurs, wood is released as the tree deconstructs, due to being involved in the collapse.

Use the resulting wood to make the training axe.

Cut wood like a normal person.

We could carve figures out of the bones and sell them in the market!

That's right. You have the three figurines you already carved and the dagger you used to carve them. I added that to your inventory.

Carve a treehouse from the tree with the knife.

Failing this, we should travel to town and trade carved figures for axe.

Carve a treehouse from the tree with the knife.
I kind of think we should try this at some point.

If you've ever tried to build a treehouse or carve wood with a knife you'd know how much of an exercise in futility that is.

I've used a knife to carve a pole so I could use it as a shovel handle and it took several hours, but it still got done and I've got like six more to go probably not gonna get done anytime soon as that crap messed up my thumb.
