"There's like twenty train cars of the stuff.  If there are two people doing it, we'll get it done in half the time."

No, that's not good enough.  Dane isn't our friend, nor a complete idiot; he has others he could trust with this, and who he knows better than us.  He must have a reason to ask us specifically.  And we sure aren't going to help him until he coughs something--we are not a tool.

It does make sense, if each of us targets 10 train cars, each of us throws less dynamite and we would get it done in half the time if our hits were synchronized. Begin dynamite distrubution, don’t light it yet, just distribute se we each have half of the contents, if there’s an odd number, give Dane the extra, he has more experience with this

Disagreed. We're special. It's only natural that we'd be involved in this!

Plus if we refuse, there is a chance Dane would kill us, possibly by shoving a stick of dynamite the in our throat and lighting it and running, waiting for the explosion, then dealing with the train himself. We have a better likelihood of surviving if we don’t piss off the man with explosives

Bombs it is.

"Look, what you do is put it in this hole, where the crane would hook on, safe and sound.  You don't throw it, they're unstable!  Where'd you get that fool idea about throwing bombs?"

"What, you mean the Alosians have a national hero who was dumb enough to throw bombs around?"

Anyway, how it's going to work out is the liquor is in these metal containers, and you'll put a stick of dynamite on each train car.  When you run out, you should be next to Dane, who'll be moving down the line from the other end, and you can light the last fuse together.  One stick should set off the next stick, which should blow up all the train cars.

Now, all you have to do is sit and wait for the train to arrive.  The two of you move into position, climb the trainyard fence, and settle down, eyes open.  It should be here within the hour, and the tension is thick as a knife.  The only thing you see moving is a lone stray dog, sniffing around for supper.

Is there anything you want to do at the last minute?

Throw a rock at the dog so it leaves and can no longer distract us from the FLIRTING!

Quietly wait for the train. No need to make unnecessary noise

Quote
Flirt

Flirt, (4+2d6, 4+7 = 11)

Dale Willpower, (2+1d6, 2+5 = 7)

You spend the next hour chatting with Dale.  Over it, you notice a transformation of sorts, with him going from acting the aloof bad boy to sort of acting like your subordinate, not the one giving orders or even your comrade at arms.  He's also starting to look a little too long, laugh a little too loudly.. although you can also tell he's far too intimidated to ever try anything.  It's not absurd, but it's another piece of evidence that things are just subtly wrong these days.  You have to figure out what happened.

Eventually the dog goes away on its own, after peeing on every object in the train yard.  Not exactly a romantic environment, this is.

And the train arrives, Dale, now whispering, adds one last bit of instruction to you.  Wait for the guards to go by, he says.  They'll walk past the train, and then nobody will be there until they start unhooking things and moving the cars around.  We'll have a good ten minutes.. plenty of time.  As he says this, you see the locomotive come by, followed by cars.. box cars, grain cars, more box cars, tank cars.. and then the ones you are looking for, the ones for the booze.

..There aren't twenty of them.  There are like eighty of them.  And you only have twenty sticks of dynamite between you.

Uh oh.  What's next?

Suggest that since there are 80 cars and 20 sticks, throw one stick per 4 cars, heat from the dynamite should set off the rest of the cars in a chain reaction

I really can't see any way to change the plan to compensate here, not without spreading the dynamite out way more than originally planned.  Which might work fine, or might reduce the destroyed car count from twenty to one.

To make things a little faster, you will carry eight sticks, and Dale twelve.  Only two extra for him, and he's gonna be faster anyway (compliment~).  Instead of meeting in the middle, you'll rig eight cars to the left, then run.  He'll rig the twelve to the right, light the fuse, then run.  No meeting in the middle; this gives you time to get away even if you're slower than him, and should still be faster than the original plan, so he can finish before the workers get here.

...Why would they need eighty cars of booze? What's going on here?
