Quote from: 'Loppa' Aerial Platform
The Loppa is an ovoid with a wooden frame covered in canvas with 5mms of steel protecting the more vital parts of the aircraft. A crank-started internal combustion engine provides power to a large rotor shaft running vertically through the center of the aircraft and out the top, where the rotor blades are mounted. A stubby tail has another rotary blade that provides counterforce to the rotation of the main blades in order to keep the aircraft from spinning wildly.

The Loppa is crewed by a Captain/Pilot, Spotter, and Mechanic. The pilot controls the altitude of the aircraft with a series of marked levers that allow smooth, steady increases and decreases in engine power, while a control stick ever so slightly tilts the main rotor to allow for some motion control. The Spotter is given charts, pencils, maps, a photographic camera, and binoculars and observes the battlefield from one of the open sides (with waist-high guard rails). The Mechanic is responsible for fuel, potential emergency repairs, and if the Loppa finds itself close enough, firing the K-900 out of the side of the platform at filthy Confeds.

The Pilot isn't meant to use the controls to actually maneuver a Loppa across a battlefield. Instead, he is just supposed to make sure the Platform goes up safely and comes back down on solid ground. A pair of sled rails run along the bottom of the platform for the Loppa to stand on and to keep it from bottoming out.

While the Loppa isn't necessarily "fuel efficient", enough extra fuel is stored on the platform to give it a few hours of potential airtime.

Dice Gods Say: 2

The Loppa is....best described as Frankenstein's Monster of a craft. A proper internal combustion engine was not able to be designed on time so multiple foreign designed automobile engines were cobbled together into a fuel guzzling, overheating, exhaust emitting beast that rattles and shakes both itself and the rickety craft. The steel plates were done away with so the thing could even achieve minimal lift leaving the crew defending by wood framework and canvas, the crew itself also take to tying themselves physically to the frame since one wrong misstep sends them falling through the canvas covering. The tail rotor itself is found to be underpowered to counteract the jerking torque rotor shaft and requires the Pilot to spend most of his time fighting the force of the torque leaving the craft quite jittery even when still. The Loppa is successfully able to lift itself off the ground and reach altitude but not high enough to match the altitude of the Confederate spotting balloons or to stay out of range of ground fire when operating directly on the frontline. The Engineer himself spends so much time keeping the engine running that the duty of firing the Machinegun is left up to the Spotter when not preforming reconnaissance observations. The only thing that seems to actually work right on the craft is the engine power levers oddly enough as it seems the cobbled together engine responds well to their input. Of course while the craft can make it up into the sky it can do it for only brief moments as the engine guzzles fuel like a man dying of thirst drinks water plus the weight of the fuel itself needed to stay in the air for a decent amount of time keeps it from staying in the air for a long time and from reaching a higher altitude. Pilots are also advised to simple hover in place since there are no real pitch, yaw or roll surfaces other than for the pilot to stop fighting the torque and try to ease the Loppa into facing a new heading.

Quote from: M1903 8cm Mountain gun
the M1903 is a modification of our  8.0cm Fält Kanone, changing it from a standard field gun to a mountain gun. what the change entails is redesigning the gun so that the gun and carriage can be dissembled into smaller components which can be can be carried by hand or in the saddle of a pack animal and reassembled at it's new location. additionally if it is necessary the barrel of the gun will be shorted to allow it to be light enough that a team of 6 men can lift the barrel up during assembly and disassembly.

Quote from: 'Loppa' Performance and Utility Optimizations
The Loppa is a success. Not a great one, but it's a start. To continue on the path of success, a number of changes need to be made to the Loppa to ensure it operates in it's intended capacity as an observation platform, and not as a complex means of suicide.

Floorboards are installed in the aircraft to prevent people from falling through. The added weight of the craft does pose an issue, but we intend to deal with that by fixing the second issue the Loppa has - the engine.

The Loppa's new 7-cylinder rotary engine produces 150 horsepower to give the main rotor the power it needs to adequately lift the craft, while the ratio of power to the tail rotor vs the main rotor is improved in favor of the tail rotor in order to reduce unintentional rotation of the aircraft. While it won't win any awards for fuel economy, the redesigned engine is at least purposefully worked on to reduce fuel waste. The fuel used by the Loppa is a fuel-oil mix intended to keep the engine lubricated and running with a little less demand on the Engineer.

The nature of the engine should reduce the overheating issue somewhat, while exhaust has been dealt with by installing exhaust pipes that run from the engine up and out of the sides of the aircraft, and then back to dump their thick oily smoke beyond the radius of the primary rotor.

I'm really crunched on time so I'm gonna bullet point this.

- The floorboards are added successfully though weight is increased by them as rather thick and heavy boards were needed to support the crews weight.

- The Engine is replaced with a new design that is easier on the torque and shakes the craft less from its own vibrations, still is heavy and still guzzles fuel to lift the weight of the craft. The engineer is very happy. Despite venting the fumes the engine itself lacks a cooling system other than the winds generated by the propeller and still overheats drastically. Also the added weight of the floorboards reduce its effectiveness.

- The Tail Rotor is improved slightly, since I forgot to say before in absence of needing to command other surfaces besides lift the Commander uses a pair of levers in front of him to adjusted the torque control, though this method is a bit straining due to poor quality control surface connections and the tail rotor being a bit iffy.

- The fuel mixture is new and still iffy, the engineer is advised to lubricate the engine manually before flight and sometimes the engine seizes up from jammed fuel lines and then no one is happy.

- While the engine power and stability of the craft has been improved alongside preventing the crew from falling through the floor the craft has had its weight increased and still uses a fuel hungry engine so the flight time and height are similar to the previous model but MUCH more stable, the pilot can even easily turn the craft left and right. With a heavily tweaked fuel mixture and unmanned Loppa was able to stay in the air for a total of 5 minutes and 30 seconds at max power before the fuel ran out and it hurtled back down to earth.

-The new model is the 'Loppa' E1. E1 for 'Enhanced version 1'.

Quote from: M1904 15cm haubits
the M1904 is a 15cm howitzer created as a response to the confed's 120mm gun, the gun carriage has two wooden spoke wheels and hitch to allow the gun to be towed by horse, and is designed to allow for up to 55 degrees of elevation. like our 8cm gun the howitzer has hydro-pneumatic recoil system to deal with it's heavy recoil but unlike our 8cm gun it uses interrupted screw breach block and are loaded with separate shell and powder bags which allows the gun crew to load variable propellant loading for different MV and range. The barrel length is 3m long to ensure that it will have be able to provide long range fire hopefully out ranging it's confed counterpart..

Quote from: Kulsprutepistol-904
The Kulsprutepistol is an open bolt, direct blowback, fixed firing pin 9x25mm submachine gun with a 30 round double stack, double feed magazine. The magazine attaches to a vertical foregrip towards the front of the weapon and spent casings eject out the right side of the weapon. The weapon is designed to be simple to manufacture as possible, while still remaining accurate to 100 meters and reliable. The only regard for asthetics is a crest of the Duke stamped on the left side of the gun, which also acts as a proof mark.

It has a wooden stock to allow soldiers to shoulder the gun, giving it an overall length of 80cm(31.5) with a barrel length of 25cm(9.8inches.). A simple two position flip iron sight on the top of the weapon has range markings for 50 and 100 meters.

Quote from:  KarbinPistol-904
the KarbinPistol-904 or KP4 for short is as the same suggest a pistol caliber carbine for our soldiers to assault enemy trenches. the KP3 is a semiautomatic carbine chambered for a 9x25mm pistol cartridge. The action is a closed bolt blow-back. the gun is feed from the bottom using detachable 30 rounds double stack box magazines.with a barrel length of 25cm(9.8inches) it has an overall length of 85cm(33inches).

The Kulsprutepistol is an open bolt, direct blowback, fixed firing pin 8x25mm submachine gun with a 30 round double stack, double feed magazine.

The stock of the Kulsprutepistol is also designed to act as a wrist brace to allow single handed use by the cavalry. A simple two position flip iron sight on the top of the weapon has range markings for 50 and 100 meters.
I think you can get rid of the brace at this point, as cavalry are way to vulnerable at this point to be useful.

Quote from: Jaktplan 904 "Gyrfalcon"
After engineers with some understanding of aerodynamics, aerofoils, and common sense found the Loppa Aerial Platform, they strived to create an actually functional weapon of war.  The resultant design they proposed was a heavier than air craft lifted by two aerofoil wings braced together with struts and cabling, attached to a fuselage with space for an engine, pilot, and observer, followed by a tail with elevators and a rudder with the engine in a puller configuration.

The engine is based on experience gained from the Loppa performance engine, trading raw power for reliability and greater flight time. The design is intended to climb to altitudes comparable to the balloons of the tribal Confederates.

The Jaktplan is armed with two Kulspruta-900 Rörlig machine guns with 500 rounds each. The belts are loaded with one incendiary tracer round for every five rounds, switching to one every two rounds for the last 50 rounds to indicate low ammunition levels. These guns are placed on the wings outside the propeller's diameter. The observer is not aboard in this configuration.

The machineguns can be removed to allow an observer with a camera to fly in the rear seat to act as photo reconnaissance.
This would be a standard tractor biplane.

Here's some bad ideas

Quote from: Skottvagn
The Skottvagn is a lightweight split-tail carriage using wheels with rubberized tires and protected by a few thin sheets of steel riveted to the frame. The carriage is meant to be pushed across the battlefield by it's crew in order to bring both them and the Skottvagn's weapon closer to the enemy. A thick 50mm barrel protrudes from a gap in the center for the forward sheet of steel. The barrel is breech-loaded with 50mm shells and fired with a lever at the rear of the assembly. The shells fire slugs, shot, and white phosphorous rounds. The barrel allows for a significant level of depression in order to aim it into trenches it came to. Slits covered by sliding hatches on either side of the Skottvagn allow anyone inside to shoot outward safely.

Quote from: Röravfisa
The Röravfisa is a large hose and pump powered by a generator connected to a series of nifty tanks. These tanks are filled with a highly toxic gas known as Phosphine. The hoses are meant to be run from the tanks and generator through our Tunneler's handiwork to a location where they will be breaching into enemy tunnels or fortifications. A breach large enough for the hose to be pushed through is quickly dug and the hose thrown through to disperse it's payload. Tunnelers handling the Röravfisa are given rubber gloves and air masks. Air masks fit snugly onto the face thanks to an adjustable strap to form a protective seal, and ports for an air filter as well as one to connect a hose to an auxiliary air tank in an emergency.
