Hurray! This IGN writer's summary gives me a lot of hope for the game. Frankly, from the sound of it, they've improved and expanded on everything good about Vicky 2. Mana is minimal, politics and POPs are lovely and complicated, socialist and anarchist states are represented, markets are modeled from the local level to the spheres of different powers and blocs, in a far better-sounding way than the global market of V2. I could cry.

Of course, one must prepare to be disappointed. I'm sure all flaws and issues fixed just give birth to a dozen new ones. But disappointment can wait. Today I hype!

I suspect it will be good even at release though they will purposely cut out (or more generously simply not implement) a massive amount of stuff so that they can sell them as individual packets of DLC.

You want the US civil war to be handled well? I doubt it will be anything more then a semi-scripted civil war that's fairly mediocre... until they fix it with a DLC.
You want WW1 to have unique mechanisms and be part of a system that allows for other Great Wars in a meaningful fashion? Of course those will all be things... after you buy the Great War DLC.

I'm sceptical of it being as good as Vicky 2 at release, but give it a year or two and a few DLC and it should get there.

Just to clarify, I'm not expecting anything nearly as good as Vic 2.  I'm expecting this to be the George W. Bush: Idiot son nowhere near as good as Dad.
People will buy it because it's called Victoria, but it won't be.  Stay away fools!

I know screenshots are just screenshots and not entirely indicative of gameplay, but what I've seen so far looks very "EU4ified". Given the shitshow with HOI4 and Imperator, I'm not holding out hope for this being a good one.

Considering that Vic2 had a short development cycle and only 2 dlcs, unless they screw this up we might not have to wait for dlcs.

If they actually implement what they promised it could be better then vic2. Many of those promised features are how I would have imagined a successor of Vic2. But we will have to wait to see if they dont half-ass those features, or even forget to add them. Or if those promises were not made with 10 dlcs in mind, and they only ever get to the second. Def looking towards release to see what they release
