Testing Shenanigans 2: The shenaniganing
0)push the magic out of the plate stuck to Grey's hand. Store it in my needle. Attempt to not discharge that spell during the rest of testing.
1)Speak into the eye of the needle. see if it amplifies my voice like a megaphone. If it does, take it into the testing area and shout through my needle at one of the dummies, like those desert people in Dune with their weird-ass wrist pyramids or whatever they were.
2)Attempt to access hammer space using my gloves (try a variety of methods, like imaginary opening a door, or turning a key, or just acting like i am putting something in a pocket). If successful, store my Avant Garde Ceramic Loaf TM in hammer space. If successful, ask someone else to attempt to access hammer space and see if they can get the loaf out themselves, or if their hammerspace is separate.
3)If all that is unsuccessful, attempt to pass the Ceramic loaf through the eye of my needle.
4)Using the point of my needle, write the word 'break' in the air, pointed at a target dummy.
5)Throw my needle at a target dummy like a javelin. attempt to call it back to me by flexing my glove and again by saying 'return.'
6)Using the needle like a club, whack the end of the needle against the head of a target dummy. tap the tip of the needle against the target's body (or another target) to discharge the magic.
How is the grip on the needle's shaft? I know we have knurling on the eye for grip.
7)Similar to the above, tap the back of the needle on a target, then throw the needle point first at another target. Does the sewing effect still occur?
Since Grey is offering to link needles, I'll go along with his experiment there and see if we can communicate throug hthe needle, like an old school wall phone, or like a magic mirror or zoom call.
Discard the loaf that has broken ceramic using the normal kitchen disposal method. This probably doesn't need said, and is not a part of testing.
Name: Genesis
Description: Classic 80s action hero looks, kinda quiet. think Kurt Russel from the movie Soldier (only probably less mute)
Nature: Pureblood
Status: Allowed to live
HP: 10
Inventory: Robe, gloves, walking needle, Ceramic bread loaf.
Fate Points: 3
0) This works. Plate falls off, needle glows dimly
1)Doesn't work. Think it was tried before actually.
2)Nope. I think I mentioned a clue somewhere in the first turns.
3)Nope.
4)Nope.
5)Nope. But not without merit.
6)Whack and tap works like normal sewing would, but when you do it on one distinct object it doesn't seem to do anything. If you do it on two dummies it would merge them. Knurling extends a little down from the eye onto the shaft but its otherwise smooth. You can maintain a pretty good grip on it regardless though.
7)Yep, sewing will occur so long as you touch one end to one thing and then the other end to another. So long as you desire for it to happen, at least. Its somewhat intelligent and won't accidently fuse your hand to a rock because of errant taps.
If Genesis can't dislodge the plate from Grey's hand, Grey concentrates on getting the plate to let go.
Once Genesis finishes his routine, Grey links his needle with Genesis's, and tries yanking on the thread linking the needles first once, then twice, and then three times.
After that he tries speaking through the needle's hole now that they are linked.
Since Lambent Flame is coming over to help, Grey links needles with him as well and determines if it is possible to tell who the needle-threads are linked to without being able to see those who are holding the needles.
That done, he picks up another plate and tries the same thing he did earlier, Maintaining the position of a dummy relative to the plate and throwing it.
If there's any time left, Grey tries imbuing his needle with a Maintain object's velocity spell Actually, lets try pushing this. Grey attempts to imbue his needle with Maintain magic, nothing else, just Maintain.
Name:Grey
Description: A hairless pink colored man with lacking facial features, little more than a pair of eyes, two holes for a nose, and a line for a mouth.
Nature: Verbomancer (Maintain)
Status: Wearing a magic pendant, currently attached to a plate
HP: 10
Inventory: Purple robe, white gloves, giant needle, magic feather shaped saber, hammer pendant
Fate Points: 3
Plate removed
You clang the eye of your needle against the eye of Genesis' needle three times and a semi-translucent red thread appears out of mid air and ties itself around both eyes. When you move, the thread moves too, always staying a bit taut but never running out, like its stretching or contracting with your movements. Yanking on it once and twice does nothing except let Genesis know its getting yanked. The third time your entire body and needle take on that red translucent appearance and are physically yanked over to Genesis, where you become normal again and the thread snaps.
When the needles are linked, you can speak through the eye by holding it up to your mouth. Genesis hears your voice through the eye of his needle as though you were speaking directly through it.
Yes, you can link to multiple at a time. And yes you can tell them apart: The threads are different colors. You can hold up to 7 connections, the threads of which are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet in order.
I'll just tell you that if you maintain relative position you could throw the plate to throw the dummy, but throwing the plate becomes as hard as throwing the dummy. Its like they were connected by an invisible iron rod.
[4] You put a bit of generic "Maintain" in the needle.
“Shit.”
The speaker goes and finds Genesis.
“Turns out the Magi gave us this big library full of books and not a single one of them has anything telling how to create a magic spell! Might as well give up on magic then, I guess.”
This sure happens.
when I made my water hand into air, did the material changes transfer or did they chain? so was the bowl of water turned flesh then turned air whilst air turned into water? or was the bowl of water turned flesh then returned to water, and the air was turned into flesh? also, dismissing the effect didn't require touching the material-turned-flesh? or did it?
Satisfied with my tests, and relieved that I didn't accidently hurt myself,
I dismiss all current effects of my magic, and then get the best knife for the purpose that I can find, and a several wooden dummies, and begin to attempt to slowly carve them into a pair of full-size wings. I suspect this will take quite some time to complete, and will go slow rather than have to restart partway through if I can help it.
Name: Terissa / Tess
Description: a passive but brave teenage girl with purple hair and brown eyes, she has a hint of protrusions on her shoulderblades like the beginnings of wings, and a thin lizardlike tail, but nothing useful at this time.
Nature: Chameleon
Status: Healthy, left hand is air, base wings are air.
HP: 10
Inventory: Purple robe with red eye symbol on the back, white gloves with red eye symbol on their palm, 4-foot long iron needle with unknown properties.
Fate Points: 0
The material is always whatever you have right now. If your hand is water, the water is flesh. If you go from water to stone, the stone is flesh, the water is water.

You grab a butter knife and crudely stab a training dummy. Tada!
Name: Dew
Description: Human with an extra set of snail eyes poking out of her head
Nature: Anagramist
Status: No Injuries
HP: 10 HP
Inventory: robes, gloves, needle
Fate Points: 0
Anagramist: They are able to transmute objects into other objects. This is done by rearranging and/or removing letters from the name of the object. For example, “Keyboard” into a Key, a Boar, an Oak, or a Year. They can only use this power on physical objects they can hold, and the object's name is defined as "Material Object". So "Plastic Keyboard" or something like that.
Place plates on the conduits until I get 2 of 2 different food items, put the end of the needle on food type A and the tip of food type B, then put the end of the needle on the other copy of food type B and the tip on the copy of food type A
((Type of food isn’t as important as whether they are copies and thus can have the experiment done))
Not exactly sure what you're looking to learn here but the way they fuse will be dependent on a roll, with better rolls producing better fusions. Intent is also factored in.
"no Shit."
try to make a mental model of whether an individual dormant spell is dangerous or not from what I learned, so as to make snap judgements of that sort of thing possible. Then Help grey I guess, if he still needs it.
Name: Master of the Lambent Flame
Description: A messy-haired albino with a desert kepi as an extension of their lifeforce. Keeps an aloof expression when not having a delusional outburst.
Nature: Pureblood
Status: Dispassionate

Needle
Makeshift eyepatch

You're pretty sure if a spell is dangerous, it will probably look like it is.
The Speaker thinks (probably for the first time in his life…).
He then attempts to imbue a spell that gives an object the ability to temporarily speak out loud (so that non-all-tounges can hear and understand it) into his needle and then uses it on the training dummy that Genesis is using.
Name: The Speaker.
Description: a small man with black hair that is speckled with gray and a small gray goatee.
Nature: All-Tounge.
Status: Let’s see if this works…
HP: 10
Inventory: A purple robe with a large red eye embroidered on the back, a pair of white gloves with a similar eye on the palm, and what appears to be a 4 foot long sewing needle made of black iron. The needle’s sides are blunt but its tip is deadly sharp, and the “eye” has knurling around it so that it can be used as a handle.
Fate Points: 7
[5] This works!
The dummy shouts "Hit me more!"
"I could have just shoved the sausage through the cake on my own, what a waste of magic."
Try to sew several more random food things to the sausage cake then eat the results, then go check on Elizabeth and see how she's doing.
Name: Debby
Description: Looks like a regular human woman but with the head of a deer.
Nature: All-Tounges
Status: No longer flopping around a freaking out.
HP: 10
Inventory:
purple robe
white gloves
big ass needle
Sword
Elizabeth Audrey Foxington, the living fox doll

The result is what can only be described as a teleporter accident at a diner. It tastes like heart disease.
Liz is sleeping. She seems ok. Not having nightmares from what you can tell.
Try again, focusing on it being more focused than before. Then infuse a light flash spell into my needle.
Name: Greed
Description: looks mostly like a normal human with pale skin, but he has ruby red hair and eyes. his hair and eyes also give off a slight, shimmering glow.
Nature: elemental-light
Status: normal
HP: 10/10
Inventory: magic needle weapon, shredded cloak.

This is effectively reliant on a dice roll. You can totally make a laser, you just have to not roll badly.
