Yeah, I first found out about instantly freezing rivers and lakes in fortress mode. They will also instantly melt if they instantly froze. This cause me some major problems when I first found out as it dropped about 15 of my 18 dwarves into the middle of a lake with no way out, drowning them all. But yeah, a warning is needed in adventure mode.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead - A fun zombie survival rougelike that I'm dev-ing for.

I don't know if it's something else causing it, but I got my ass frozen over in a murky pond in town earlier. Incidentally, the only reason I took a dip was because I checked the temp during the day and it was Scorching. It went down to Day After Tomorrow  in a few hours.

I cheatsaved and trotted down a square or too and saw fish drowning like mad. The entire river had been drained down to 2/7 and was only just refilling the next morning. You think legendary Dwarf Fortress Dwarves are badass; they have nothing on Dwarf Fortress Nature.
