: "So you can't be seen dating, huh. Is that what we're doing now?"
Azusa snorted.
"Why, you offering? You know, you're pretty brazen for a class rep, offering to date an idol in public like that."

Tatsuya grit his teeth and barely avoided a spin-out that would have resulted in a wreck and fifth place at best, but Jun'ichi's two-tiered assault left him behind.

So that's how he fights... I'll keep this in mind for the future.

"I admit it, you outplayed me this round. So last question: why is he spineless?"

Jun'ichi looked at the victory screen on his display, barely a smile on his face before he dismounted the bike-shaped controller.

"A good game nevertheless. You know how to keep someone working for their win."
"As for why he is spineless... ... He became the very thing he swore to destroy. That we swore to destroy."

His voice was surprisingly somber after his self-confident and lightly cocky display earlier. A tone that quickly turned into surpressed hatred now.

"... Plus, he knows what he did. If he won't tell you what, just more proof he's a coward."

With that, Jun'ichi made a hasty retreat, fists clenched.

Sekizawa filed that information away for later. Getting off the machine for now, he wandered over to the small crowd around Steel Grip.

"Which one of you is winning?"

Kenji's smile widened a little as he shrugged.

: "I was just curious, that's all. When a guy gets invited by one of the most popular girls in school to go eat yakisoba - on his own wallet, no less - he has to wonder a little. Especially when she's the one who brings up the topic of dating." A flicker of movement outside the noodle shop caught Kenji's eye, and he looked up in time to see a flash of green ducking out of sight. Odd.

: "Well, it's not a big deal. Date or no date, I've had fun today. You?"

"I suppose I wouldn't be entirely against the idea, heh. Don't you go getting any ideas, though."
Azusa chuckled.
"Don't worry about payment. I'll pay my own way, Prez. 'Sides, I'm pretty sure I make more than you do. Just a little."

"Oh, hi, Sekizawa... to be frank... I do not know. He's good." - The battle is raging, yet no one was able to get in any good combos. Half of the round's timer was gone already, yet both lifebars were roughly at 2/3. - "If I give in to the urge to attack him all out, he'd surely punish me."

Nonoka stopped cheering them for a moment.

"I don't have any idea either," she said confidently, crossing her arms. "I've never seen this game before."

"In that case I'm cheering for the four-eyes. You can do it, glasses-kun! Ganbatte!"

Sekizawa's tone was light, but he was still thinking deeply as he spoke. He wondered if Jun'ichi had been watching the fight earlier as well, or if he just knew who the new crew was and happened upon them. It was food for thought.

And thus, an evening drew to a close over time, with no more incidence sullying the overall mood.

"Hey..."
"Hey."
"I... I'm truly sorry. For what my brother did..."
"..."
"Please... I know he doesn't deserve it, but... please, forgive him..."
"I can't."
"..."
"But it has nothing to do with you, has it?"
"N-no..."
"... Then, wanna hit the arcades?"
"Wha-?"
"Don't resist. Otherwise you'll just make it harder for both of us."

~~First Chapter~~
The Trapped Wolf Is The Most Deadly Adversary

Friday, after school. Due to the understaffed nature of Kishibe High (and most other high schools in the city, really), this means the beginning of the student's long weekend, a true rarity in Japan. Officially it was still open on Saturday and teachers are expected to be there, but it's pretty much just for the few unfortunate bright ones who self-study in the library and maybe also sneak in the game club room or anime club room for a meeting.
Where Kishibe High would become the otakus' haven on the weekend, the streets became the delinquents' paradise the moment the last unit was dealt with. It's the time where Bōsōzoku gangs parade their illegally-modified cars and motorbikes around and regular delinquents watch their nightly illegal races for the sheer joy of it or for betting on their favourite.

But for now, it was still daytime.

The gang met the Souban at the usual place and he immediately commanded them to follow him to the mall. No real reason to refuse, but he also mentioned that he's not in the mood for smalltalk until they're there. Thus, some time passes, a somewhat tense atmosphere hanging in the air. Finally, they reached the main entrance of the mall, where Hachimoto already waited for them.

"HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!"
"... You still have your hairdo uncut?"
"Please, as if yer capable of getting good tools in the middle of the night, Souban!"
"Guess that's fair. But I'll make you eat your pompadour if it still exists tomorrow."
"Yeah, yeah, yer gang's not here to listen to our bickering!"

With the snap of his fingers, three of Hashimoto's newbie gang members from yesterday appeared and carried filled garbage bags, which they put down in front of the Souban.

"The good shit, I hope."
"Only the finest shit for yer, boss."

The Souban turns around to the gang.

"I've burned through almost all my favors for these, so you better be grateful. You'd be a pussy gang anyway if you'd start with lots of street cred banked. Which, totally coincidental, is also the first lesson of delinquency here: You can shake down students for lunch money all day long and it still wouldn't get you far. If you really want to get something around these parts, you'll deal with delinquent economy and there's only one currency for it: Favors, obviously."

Each member of the gang now gains a D-Rank Weapon.
In addition, the gang gains enough EXP to gain a level, automatically promoting to First Class now!

After glancing around at the unsorted pile, Satō was perhaps a little disappointed to find nothing of obvious use to her at first. Until her eyes chance upon a small book buried deep underneath the rest, which quickly revealed itself to be a... health and safety manual for kendo practice.
: "Thanks, you really shouldn't have."
Sato obtains the Moonlight Tome (Refluffed as Practiced Strikes), and promotes to an Ascetic.

Tatsuya shuffled through the bags until he found a wooden bat (Steel Crossbow). It wasn't a top of the line model or anything, but it was certainly an upgrade over the plastic bat he'd been carrying, and he picked it up.

"It's got a good weight to it. Thanks, Souban."

He gave it a few practice swings, then placed the tip on the ground with his hand on the base and watched everyone else.

"Now, what have we here... - Ryuuji sifted through various stuff, until he found a certain book... - "I think this is for me."

Said book was a certain rarity - the quite hard to get nowadays Kenpo on average Monday - History of Chinese martial arts' role in everyday life, released in 1986 by Minmei Publishing. A rare specimen, not printed in any big quantity, before the publishing house went bust.

Ryuuji understands Bajiquan Strong Strikes (Steel Sword).

"This is nice and all, but.. Not that confident in using any of this. I'm more likely to hurt myself than.."

"Besides, my gramps already made sure to get me something. Don't know how he heard but.."

Through Souban's favors, her grandfather learned about things and got her something. She's currently wearing Lightly Armored Cloth.(Sacred Armor)
Along with some talk about proper safety, so she can apply some of her self-defense to dealing with people. Along with the usual brochures.

"Favors, huh? How do we go about getting those?"

Susumu did his own digging through the bag and eventually found a book of his own - this time, some kind of... dictionary?

"I guess I could always hit them with this, or something..."

Susumu now has Enhanced Insults (Nosferatu)!
