It does not. This in conjunction with the per-hunter cost to embark means that, while it does have the best odds of survival, just flinging more bodies at the problem is not cost-effective after a certain point.

Are people allowed to cancel their bid, if they are currently winning?

A: This is a good point, and one I had not thought of. Lazy Fair dictates that I offload the burden to you when possible. So...

If you cancel a winning bid, you need to either find someone willing to take over your bid, or pay 10% of the canceled bid as an auctioneer's fee.
