But seriously, I figure they taste somewhat like pork.  The dark meat on pork, that is.

It tried to bite me as i ran out of my room to let animal control into the house.

If this ever happens again, try not to run out of the room, but very slowly move towards the door. Don't make sudden movements, because that's a good way to scare the shit out of a wild animal that's trapped in your house. It panics, and tries to bite you. When in doubt, just ask the operator what to do.

Because it's going to take a while, call animal control, move out of your room (locking it inside), and then wait for them to arrive, in that order.

I stand by my suggestions in the original thread.

If in urban area: Contact animal control, they have special tools to leash and remove the critter safely.
If in rural area: discretely open the window, then leave the room, and lock/block the door. Go outside, and leave catfood out there. (notification of fish and game is optional, but recommended for a first time experience, or if the possum is demonstrating clear signs of distemper.)

Possums are scavengers, and will seek out food as a primary motivator. They are expecially fond of cat food.

There is an important thing about opossums.. They appear "aggressive" when they are trying to claim territory, claim food, or feel cornered; but this is all bluff...

The easiest conversation with them goes like this:

They open their mouth and hiss at you ("I'll bite you! This is my space")
You stiffen your stance and roar at them without moving closer ("what do you want? you wanna fight me?")
They back away ("Nawww, I don't want to fight, just leave me alone")
You relax your muscles and back away to give them room to move, but keep looking directly at them ("ok, no fight... but this is my space and you are in it")
They waddle away ("Well, the door is over here...")

But wierd's cat food or animal control is right, so any emotional interaction is just play for you.
