Kitchen screen revamp.
« on: April 15, 2021, 10:39:15 pm »

Reading a thread in another sub-forum gave me an idea and, seeing as a quick search didn’t bring up anything similar, I thought I’d spell it out:

Kitchen screen revamp.

The Kitchen screen should be changed so that instead of simply saying whether or not something can be cooked or brewed,  it should instead have a matrix  of spin boxes with items down the left side and actions (cook, brew, mill, press, allow for eating raw, reserve, etc.) across the top (this list of actions should stay put while the matrix and list of items are scrolled).

In addition, the spin boxes for actions that are not possible for a particular item should be grayed out and the interface should allow players to specify the percentage of each item to be used for each action.

Finally, the matrix should be programmed such that the values in all of the spin boxes for an item total up to no more than 100%.  Attempting to increase one spin box in such a way as to increase the total beyond 100% percent should result in the increase being ignored (and possibly some sort of visual and/or audio feedback).  If the user really wants increase the spin box that much, they should be required to first reduce one of the other spin boxes for the same item.

Thank you for your time.

This one, incidentally.  Although, now that I reread it, I’m not sure my suggestion would actually do anything to solve the specific problem in the thread.  I was a bit tired when I posted it, so I just hope it’s at least useful and coherent.
