I started porting my mod and tileset, to future-proof it once SteamDF comes out. But I'm not super happy with the old graphics, since the new ones are so much better. Obviously that's unacceptable, after all I have to improve vanilla DF, so what's better than 32x32 sprites?

64x64 sprites! (Quick ingame test with TWBT using some edited sprites donated from the wonderful Dokucraft Dwarven tileset for Minecraft)



The question is, how many people could actually need/use something like that? It works fine on 3840x2160, but that seems a bit rare.

I think this looks absolutely awesome and would love to play a DF game with it.  But, I think that at this point, it is running into issues where the graphics are so good that the (lack of) animations are going to stick out like a sore thumb.  These graphics are so intricate that I would expect to see a dwarf open that chest or lie down in bed or sit at the table.  Instead, it will just kinda...jump tile to tile on top of it and sit.

Just my .02.  But if this was available for use in a Dwarf Fortress pack, I'd use it in a hearbeat.

I’ll switch from 1080p to 4K once both of the following are true:

1.  I need a new monitor.

2.  4K monitors are cheaper than 1080p ones.

I do use a 4k monitor, if it still matters. I know it has been a while since you asked Meph.

Would it be improper to ask how things are looking towards the steam version? I find myself checking every week to see if it's out. I can't wait for human mode!
