Having spent all of their precious earth rodents, which the people of this world seem to believe are coinage for some reason, the very lost agents of ER trek back to the crash site, bucket of sand in tow. They can only hope that they did a smart thing by accident in this confusing isekai world.

Back in the wreckage, a small girl in a baseball cap contemplates the bucket of sand. It truly is a remarkable substance. Maybe if they had stuff like that back on earth, the battle against the kaiju would have gone better. She never did get to fufil her dream before the accident...

Aside from being renamed following a lethal duel over whether Nsailor is pronounced "Nnsailor" or "Sailor", Powder and Partner simply waits.

For the sake of exploration and the glory of our nation, I decided I shall help fund the blind goat.  A partnership has been arranged in private to secure more funds and assure success.

Quote
We, the undersigned Sharky's financial services and Blue fish Enterprises, agree to donate a total sum of 5 guineas to the ship 'Blind Goat' to help Eyepatch Odysseus explore the north. Those investors in this contract each obtain exclusive right to any potential routes discovered by this vessel. All favors from this donation are divided by how much each investor donated. The rights to the trade route discovered are to be licensed to ships at an appropriate and profitable rate decided after the discovery of the trade route itself. The profit from said licensing shall be divided among investors by how much each investor donated. Any modification to this contract requires all shareholders of the Joint Blind Goat Contract  to be in agreement.
-Sharky's financial services, 3 guineas

A completely nondescript individual, servant of some guild official or another, shows up at the doorstep of Sharky Financial services with a completely unique contract.

@AndreaAndreaAndrea:
Quote
We, the undersigned Sharky financial services and Meister Nagant, agree to the following:

We, the undersigned Sharky financial services, agree to receive 3 guineas from the undersigned, Meister Nagant.
This amount will incur into a monthly interest of 4.5% of the current outstanding value, to be paid added to the existing amount. This investment will continue in perpetuity, however, Meister Nagant may deposit additional funds at any time. With three months notice, Meister Nagant may withdraw funds from the investment. This waiting period may be waived with the agreement of both parties. Failure to provide the sum will cause expropriation of assets for at least equal value.

Signed,
- Meister Nagant

There isn't that much going on, so:
Early Summer, Y1
TURNTURNTURN
Spoiler: Actions processed (click to show/hide)

Eyepatch Odysseus gladly accepts a 5 Guinea donation, and promises the donors the fruits of his labours. In consideration of the fact that his prior donor will no longer benefit (directly) from his voyage, he refunds Emerald Robin's 2 Guineas. Having done so, he organises some last-minute supplies he had previously forgotten (like drinking water), then bravely boards the Blind Goat and casts off. As the ship sails out of the dock, only bumping into a few smaller vessels on the way, he shouts that he will be back no later than Mid Winter. People watch the Blind Goat sailing in confused circles for a while, before eventually striking out in a vaguely northwards direction.
He... he'll be fine.
[Emerald Robin EEHC receives 2 Guineas. As the donation was refunded, no further Royal Favour is earned]

The Market continues to digest the Sand sold last month. Stocks are gradually emptied, but buyers are not concerned, anticipating an abundance of Sand in short order- indeed, their excitement (and thus the price) diminishes further still.

Towards the end of the month, the Nearsouth Nsailor appears on the horizon, followed by... nothing. Upon disembarking, the captain offers a partial explanation: On the journey out, they had just fallen behind the Warrick when a terrible storm struck. They were able to avoid the worst of it, but the Warrick likely took the brunt of the storm. It is improbable that the storm alone would sink the Warrick, but she will have been blown way off course. The captain has no idea what happened to the Clarisse.
The news of not one but two ships being behind schedule causes a stir in the market, with buyers suddenly modifying their projections of Sand availability- and how much they are willing to pay for it. The price increases to what it was at the start of the month.

PRICES
Sand   - 0.45 Guineas per unit (+0)
Ships  - 10 Guineas each (+0)

DESTINATIONS
Nearsouthlands - 2 Month round trip, yields Sand

SHIPS
Clarisse  - Departed for Nearsouthlands in beginning Late Spring Y1, was expected to return end of Early Summer Y1. Missing
Warrick   - Departed for Nearsouthlands in beginning Late Spring Y1, was expected to return end of Early Summer Y1. Missing
Nearsouth Nsailor  - Returned end of Early Summer Y1 with 10 units of Sand. Intending to depart for Nearsouthlands in beginning Mid Summer Y1
Blind Goat - Exploration Vessel. Departed North in Early Summer Y1. Expected return: No later than Mid Winter Y1

NEW MECHANIC: Ships Headed Into Trouble. The sea is a dangerous place, you know? Ships can run into all sorts of trouble. The chance of trouble depends on the length and risks of the route, but even a short and secure route like the Nearsouthlands one poses a risk. Trouble takes on many forms: damage (resulting in the ship sinking in the worst case), delays, lost cargo, or a combination. Other ships on the same route have a chance of learning about the nature of trouble a ship runs into, which they will share upon returning to the Motherlands. A ship that does not show up on time will be listed as Missing for several months, whereafter it will be assumed lost and stricken from the list of ships.

No Sale.
VVT is advised that the current Loan cannot be repaid until after the Clarisse's Return or Prices rise. Sand being held until this unless VVT wishes for 0.9 to be repaid immediately. After is an undetermined length of time. Can't really use it, but this would be a bankruptcy otherwise. Engage in talks of the contract if this doesn't work.

I would advise other companies hold onto the Sand for now. Flooding the market does no one any good.

Pay off 0.2 guineas interest of debt from SFS.

Also to owners of Bathtub Corsairs and Blue Fish Enterprises, we're willing to purchase some of your shares in Clarisse at market price of between 0.8 to 0.9 guineas a piece.
