Computer detects headphones as speakers.
« on: March 11, 2021, 05:07:01 pm »

Good day, ladies and gentlemen, I come to you with a problem. When connecting my headphones (CORSAIR HS45 SURROUND) directly to a headphone jack in my computer, my device reads my headphones as Speakers functioning on Realtek. This, sadly, results in microphone not functioning when needed. What causes this problem, and are there any fixes outside of sending either the headphones or the computer to repairs? USB converter solves the issue, however I would still like to use the headphone jack directly.

Do you have a separate microphone jack? A headphone/microphone splitter would probably fix the issue (which is probably a firmware problem, I'd surmise).

That I do not know. What I do know is that I have an USB adapted included with the headphones. Plugged the jack into the adapter, then the adapter into a working USB port. That solved the issue.
