This will use the standard 1d6 system.
1: Epic failure - It has no effect... in fact, it has a negative effect on you.
2: Failure - It has little to no effect... You need to do better than that.
3: Partial Success - It's not very effective, but at least it does something.
4: Success - You manage to pull through with your action. Good job!
5: Epic Success - It's effective! You might get something more out of it too.
6: Too Epic - You definitely get what you wanted, but with some drawbacks.

To learn Magic, you must advance in the rankings. To advance in the rankings, you must Empower the Shrines. To Empower the Shrines, you must Worship. All types of Worship learned may be used for subsequent ranks of magic – you may always Make an Offering at the Shrine to Empower, but you must rank up to use the new form of Worship.
Rank 0: No Knowledge – A mage has yet to learn this Aspect at all.
You may Make an Offering at the Shrine to worship. (10 EXP to rank up)
Rank 1: Perception – A mage cannot manipulate the Aspect just yet, but they have an understanding of how the Aspect effects the environment.
You may now Study at the Shrine to Worship. (50 EXP to rank up)
Rank 2: Manipulation – A mage can now use rudimentary magic of the Aspect. This will form as simple alterations to the environment.
You may now Practise Magic to Worship. (100 EXP to rank up)
Rank 3: Control – A mage can now make notable changes to the environment around them.
You may now Spar with Others to Worship. (500 EXP to rank up)
Rank 4: Command – A mage can now do impressive feats of alteration to the environment.
You may now Teach Others to Worship. (1000 EXP to rank up)
Rank 5: Mastery – A mage knows the most advanced magics of the Aspect. They can perform magnificent feats to effect the environment.
You have reached the pinnacle of this magic, and no longer need to Worship at this Shrine.
There are five Elements - Air, Earth, Fire, Water and Spirit. Elements have two Aspects – an Offensive Aspect and a Defensive Aspect. That makes ten aspects in all.
Each Aspect has a Shrine dedicated to it at the Temple. The Shrines of each Aspect will eventually start giving off a glow when Empowered.
This is a basic rundown of what sorts of things you might learn from each Aspect. You can also blend different Aspects together to learn new and interesting magic.
Air
Storm Aspect (Offensive, Yellow): Understand how to create electricity, lightning, storms and other such things.
Wind Aspect (Defensive, White): Understand how to protect against lightning, and how to effect wind to change the weather.
Earth
Stone Aspect (Offensive, Green): Understand how to create acid, levitate stones, and shift the earth to your will.
Nature Aspect (Defensive, Brown): Understand how to protect against acid, and how to effect plants or change the properties of natural elements.
Fire
Flame Aspect (Offensive, Red): Understand how to create fire, use heat to your advantage, and other such things.
Temperance Aspect (Defensive, Orange): Understand how to protect against fire, and how to temper your mind as well as surroundings.
Water
Ice Aspect (Offensive, Silver): Understand how to create ice, use cold to your advantage, and other such things.
Maelstrom Aspect (Defensive, Blue): Understand how to protect against ice, how to shift the waters and rains to your will, and related subjects.
Spirit
Decay Aspect (Offensive, Black): Understand how to harm others through sheer force of will, how to use the bones and spirits of the dead to your advantage, and other such things.
Rejuvenation Aspect (Defensive, Purple): Understand how to heal others through sheer force of will, how to communicate with spirits and the dead, and how to deflect harmful attacks or dispel magic.
You may choose 1 Aspect to be at Rank 2, and 4 other Aspects to be at Rank 1. All other Aspects start at Rank 0. Replace the ? with your chosen number.
