War dogs and non violent guests
« on: March 04, 2021, 08:59:11 pm »

I've got some Gorlaks and I want to just let them chill in my fort but the war dogs are making meatballs out of them. Is there a way to set dogs on chill mode?
One option is to lock all dogs in a room but maybe there's a better option.

I assume the gorlaks are wild ones, not civilized visitors. If that's the case I don't think you can stop the dogs from attacking the "hostile wildlife".

Thank you for the answer, I've locked the gorlaks in a room to chill indefinitely

I tend to "stable" my dogs around my entrance, or chain them (and bears and the like) in the hallways. Which should prevent the dogs from roaming around killing everything as much. Cats are always my issue. They aren't very effective killing vermin stabled, but they indiscriminately kill everything when loose....

I've never noticed too many problems with cats myself.  I pasture them over the food stockpiles and they take out vermin on a regular basis.  Even kittens are more or less effective when I start butchering the excess cat population.

That is an insane and dangerous plan.  I approve wholeheartedly.

It's not gorlak related, but war dogs are often an excellent indicator when visitors are not what they seem.
