Alright, the enemy no longer has ranged units, and all move slower than us. I propose that we can now safely sprint away until we're just out of their charge range (8 tiles) and pelt them with 1 damage rocks until they succumb, being dumb crab zombies which don't know how to outmaneuver us. This plan is safe and reliable, but might take a few turns.
So, autoresolve please? :3



Basically this, with the addition that Inade or Isha should Coordinate with Fenil to allow her to fire two 14-damage arcane projectile attacks per turn.  Reed has slightly better stats for coordinate, but can deal 10 damage at a range.

As much as anything, I'm stating this to get used to the manuever system.

As far as I know, there's nothing I can do in this state. If the rulebook states otherwise, somewhere I missed, please enlighten me.

1st Hour of Morning, Day 2: Crabtacular Conclusion


Everyone kites the dumb crabs to death. Redeath? Whatever it is, it's tedious and awful but not terribly difficult; the shambling monsters possess no strategy to speak of, and continue pursuing until they've been whittled all the way down.

Red Group pries eight Moldy Chitin (Rank 1 Monster Part) and four Crab Dust (Rank 0 Monster Part) from the slain crabs. They also find something strange in one of the shamblers- a sort of golden ticket or emblem of some kind. It's a rectangular strip of high quality cloth, bearing an image of three carrots on one side, what appears to be a bottle on the other, and strange writing (you think) in the middle.

Isha Arcana: [4][2]+3 = 9
Reed Arcana: [2][2]+3 = 7


Nobody present is sure why an undead crab would contain such a thing.

The pirates, by this time, have also dealt with their group, and are similarly exhausted and displeased by the existence of crabs.

"Maybe no natives after all," the moblin captain concedes. "Eaten by crabs? Will have hard camp if not. Hrm."

Nonetheless, he leads the group east, through sand infested with thick, fluffy-looking yellow worms. Reed is fairly certain they would qualify as a Spongy elixir ingredient, and thus provide resistance to Water damage.

Several hours later, you hit some more rocky outcroppings and turn northeast. This takes you over some considerably flatter outcroppings of pale white stone, knobbly in appearance, almost like softly glowing bones fused together.

Several hours after that, dawn breaks. You are still in the middle of endless sand, and even the pirates look exhausted and bewildered.

"We'll be in a right fix if we can't find some lumber," Salty Pete warns. "Ye can make shelter outta stone, but we haven't the tools for it."

The moblin captains snorts and considers his options.


Yellow Group harvests four Moldy Chitin (Rank 1 Monster Part) from the slain crabs. Archeologist picks himself back up, but is Injured and thus takes a -1 penalty to all Traits grouped under the Aspect of Power. This will go away when he takes an Extended Rest, assuming he also eats during said rest.

Loudly complaining about crabs, the fairy continues to lead the group after the captain, running over the same sights and resources as Red Group.

Isha sits down in the sand, glaring somewhat resentfully at the sun.

"I guess it might be necessary, then. I know a magical song which would let me look into the future, sort of. It's supposed to be a way to contact the Goddess of Time... I haven't actually used it."

Reed frowns. "I have a spell that raises a pillar of ice from water. If someone climbed on it, they would be higher, and could maybe see farther? I do not know if it would matter though, not with... all this sand." He finishes as he gestures around them.

We could look for caves and trees. I'll admit to not being too good at finding these things, but once we've gotten the resources, I can definitely set something up.

Check on Isha, to make sure she's okay.  Then look around the crew for a rito--a rito would be able to fly higher above Reed's ice pillar... (Nope, misremembered, only fairies are normally natural fliers) and might also be convinced to share their cloth feathers with Fenil, for use in bombs.  If a rito is found, try to influence them into helping spot if the fairy refuses, and share their feathers during the next extended rest.

((I decided to ease into it a bit, because that encounter was bullshit, nobody's accustomed to the rules, and you don't have a place to rest yet. In the future you'll gain injuries as normal.

Though on the topic of corrections, resources visible on the map are no longer a Rank higher than those found through mundane searching. They're simply guaranteed to be there and there's no limit to how many times you can harvest them per day, in addition to any minor or situational benefits they might have.))


Everyone gains 1 Token for defeating your first challenge! Everyone gains 1 Token for overcoming a questionable encounter!

As a reminder, tokens gained through play are spent identically to tokens during character creation. There's no limit to how many you can carry, and there's no way to lose them.

Isha begins singing, entering a trance. She twitches and shifts oddly for a few minutes, before her eyes pop open, pure black and streaming pitch, and she collapses screaming.

A quick check confirms she is not physically hurt, but unconscious.
