Kraken, Mitsurugi

The dark-haired woman turned to face Kraken as if she'd been expecting him, her expression still dour and sorrowful. "Saigai-no-Mitsurugi-no-Kami, Goddess of Disaster." Her introduction, as haughty-seeming as it was, lacked a certain force it had previously. "A guardian spirit, once." She shut her eyes for a moment before opening them with her continuation. "Hopefully your strength is sufficient, Kyle Murdoch, as every ounce of it will be needed from now onward."

Kraken, Mitsurugi

Kraken's jolly demeanor quickly faded away. He could tell that something was upsetting this woman and with little else to go off of he was left to resort to socially flailing and hoping to hit the nail on the head. He looked away awkwardly for a few moments before finally speaking once more. "A-ah. I... I'm sorry I must seem very rude but I don't know the proper decorum for meeting a god. Kind of my first time meeting one and I wasn't very religious back home...." He looks around once again before continuing. "And uh, just Kraken would be fine if it pleases you but if you'd prefer to use my actual name that's fine as well..." To say Kraken was mentally kicking himself at that point would be a massive understatement.

Kraken, Mitsurugi

Mitsurugi made a dismissive gesture. "A simple acknowledgement is fine." It makes you one of the only ones in this place to do so. "I took no offense." She gave a polite nod to the man. "You will find most people here do not place high value on formality."

Kraken responds with a slight chuckle. "Ah well, yeah most of the people I've met so far don't seem like the type. But you uh... You just feel more refined I suppose. Makes me feel like I'm talking to some kinda' royalty." Kraken chuckles again, this time nervously as his hand reaches behind to scratch his back. "So uh... this is kind of a weird question I suppose but what's worshipping you like? Do you get power from it? Is there specific stuff someone would have to do? Maybe some magic underwear?" He pauses for a second as he considers that last part before coughing. "Uh, that was a joke about... uh, just ignore it I can explain Mormons later."

"Many would say that my status is above royalty." This was muddied, of course, in situations of divine descent, but gods were to be placated before kings. Kraken's question got her attention, however. "There were once traditions to my worship, but ultimately, anything done for the purpose of acknowledging my presence and power will channel your faith to me." She thought for a moment. "Prayers at a shrine are a way to call my attention when needed. Are you familiar with Shinto?"

Well, here's hoping all those manga and shit served me well! Kraken thinks on it for a moment before shrugging. "I know a little bit. It's a native Japanese faith and often has shrines to local deities tended to by shrine maidens yeah?" He gives Mitsu an inquisitive look to see if he's correct.

The goddess nodded. "Yes. Though from your phrasing, I suspect you know little of the customs." It was unfortunate, but only for her tastes and nothing more. "This is irrelevant, however. I am one of these deities." She produced a slip of paper from somewhere within her robes, and stared at it for a moment. Surely, something as small as this could not go wrong. A small calligraphy pen, apparently already supplied with the ink it needed, darted across the slip. "This is a small charm, marked with my name and my power. If you wish to worship me, you may construct a shrine about it as you wish. Praying at the shrine will allow you to contact me at any time."

The operator takes the slip, looking over it in wonder for a few moments before putting it away in a safe pocket. "Oh shit, that's poggers! And you can just do that? What else can you do, can you like, bless things, or uh, like, summon storms and earthquakes?" Kraken looks at Mitsurugi with all the awe of a child as he askes his questions, silently pumping his fists in excitement at the prospect of knowing and or worshipping an incarnate god. "S-sorry, I'm asking a lot of questions aren't I? It's just despite the bad stuff about coming here it's really fucking cool to meet people with actual super powers and robots and now an honest to, uh god, God! I... I-I actually am starting to wonder if I can actually help. I mean, I don't have any special powers I just have a gun...." Despite he earlier excitement Kraken seems to be sober up at a rapid pace as he considers just how different of a league he's in.

Kraken, Mitsurugi

The face Mitsurugi made at Kraken's initial explanation was somewhere between what one might look like if they were served rotting meat glazed with excrement and the pain of watching something near and dear to the heart be butchered before your eyes. "I do not know what that word means, but never speak it again." It inspired an inexplicable revulsion in her, though she quickly moved on to more relevant matters.

"The charm itself means little. It might save a house from the worst of a storm, or ensure that the foundation remains after a quake. Both of which I can call at will, yes." Having someone react with wonder to her was satisfying. It seemed that someone had finally acknowledged her significance. The shadow in her heart said that it wasn't relevant, but she would allow herself this one small joy. "Does the year. . . I believe it is 1274 in the current calendar, hold any significance to you?" Whether he knew or not was irrelevant to her next statement, and so she continued. "And do not fret. Cities, countries, even the gods themselves are constructed by ordinary people. Divine privilege is to carry the wishes of humanity within oneself. I do not doubt you have something to contribute, supernatural powers or no."

Kraken, Mitsurugi

Kraken takes a few moments to consider Mitsurugi's words before nodding, giving her a small smile. "Yeah, you're right. Obviously we all are here for a reason so I should just do my best to prove it. Now then, 1274... That does sound familiar, let me think for a second." And think the American does, taking a few moments with a concentrated look before he nods to himself. "That was the Mongol invasion of Japan right? Eventually got beaten back by a huge storm...." Kraken trails off into a long "Ooohh" as he seems to realize what she was getting at. "That was you!? Holy shit that's so cool! I mean, full disclosure being from Florida and having been in the coast guard besides I'll dealt with storms more than enough and near been killed by them too... But still I have major respect for that kind of thing, especially when it's used to a good cause!"

Kraken, Mitsurugi

Mitsurugi nodded, a gesture made solemn only for the fact that it came from the normally dour woman. "Indeed." She thought back to that night. The old ways were still strong, back then, her existence stable. The previous world had reminded her of it; in fact, she wouldn't note it as out of place were it somehow dropped into her home back then. My home. . . "I was once worshipped as a guardian. Sometimes one must destroy to protect, and I can destroy like few others." The statement didn't sound like a boast; in fact, it almost seemed as if she were ashamed of the latter part.

Kraken nods. He could tell the topic was getting the goddess down, he could understand, he'd had feelings like that before. So he gives her a gentle smile and puts a hand on her shoulder. "Then it's a good thing we have you here. There's no shame in being good at destroying as long as you're building something from it." He pulls away, his smile widening into a grin. "At least that's what I think. Makes me feel better about all that property damage I've caused doing my job, anyway." He chuckles a bit, hoping his attempt to lighten the mood helped some.

Lyra

Something about the spark of hope Lyra saw in Perlita's eyes just made her feel even worse somehow. Expectations were being placed on her again.

Expectations she knew she couldn't meet.

The contractor tried not to show her apprehension. "I... I've never worked on anything as complex as 6D is, and this would only be my second time working with Sharicite, so I can't guarantee anything... but if there's anything you can do to help, I'd be grateful. You, uh, do have one of the crystals, right? I know that the remaining ones could be useful for other things, so if you've already decided to use one of them for something, just let me have the crystal that's left..." Lyra turned to 6D herself. "You would like to have the injury treated, yes?"

6D had gotten a bit lost trying to follow the conversation, but shook her head and refocused. "If it won't put undue burden on you, yes. I do have one of those crystals."

Of course, Twin is neither man nor woman but an unholy eldritch abomination like every other Bay12er. The difference is they hide it better.

Lyra

Lyra nodded, saying nothing as she prepared to go to work. 6D's approval was all she was waiting for. This was her chance. She just had to make sure not to screw it up...

Lyra tries to use the Green Sharicite that 6D has to fix her injuries!

Things that that may affect this attempt:
Lyra's INT is 8.
Her SYN is 0.
Perlita is helping Lyra!
Her INT is 4.
Her SYN is 14.
Lyra has successfully worked with Sharicite before!
Lyra is not at all familiar with 6D or her systems.

Friedhold, Aurora

After Nessa goes bouncing off Friedhold frowns.
"I am still yet to learn of the more mystical nature of the worlds.  However I will look into this.  What I am most concerned with is that the reason hosts...like her...why children, were chosen is because the parasite proved unable to survive in any others."
He paused for a long moment, heaving a deep sigh.
"And removal of the parasite is to my knowledge fatal."
