Bliznex

Bliznex stops walking on overhearing that there is not ONE but TWO to THREE dead women just around the corner, and starts contemplating what sort of bad luck he 'landed' near...

Alexandria found no pulse and a slightly cool body temperature when she checked for vitals; however, as her hand moved toward the woman's face, she gasped to life and promptly fell over sideways with a startled shout. She immediately moved to scoot herself sideways while reaching for a sidearm at her belt, adrenaline restarting its flow at maximum pace. Menacing lines of yellowish electricity began to arc between her limbs. "Get back!" The shout came in a voice somewhat deeper than expected for her average frame, and wavering perhaps more than one would expect - or less, given the blade still through her chest.

Alexandria's head twitches very slightly to the side, sending a wave of motion rippling down her silver hair-wires.  "Error 404.  Fear protocols not found.  Recalibrating emotion matrix," She states in a toneless voice, standing perfectly still for a moment, before resuming her more animated body language, "Please put down the firearm.  You have been very badly damaged and require attention from a doctor."  The android makes no moves to get closer to the impaled woman, "That is what they call mechanics for organic life forms, I believe.  Impalement is a very serious condition even for exceptionally resilient species.  Additionally, discharging a firearm at me in such a confined space could result in a ricochet that harmed you.  I would prefer for that to not occur, and I do not think you would enjoy it either."

The woman took several moments to just breathe, hand remaining on her gun without actually drawing. Lyra received a panicked glance as well, but her attention remained on the automaton before her. What Alexandria had said seemed to click, and she shook her head. "This unit does not. . . I'm not hurt." She laughed once, in a manner straddling amusement and fear. "Hi. I'm dead people." The electrical energy retreated, but did not vanish entirely; it continued to pop and skitter on the girl's skin, reacting defensively whenever either of them moved closer.

Lyra

Lyra only spared a brief glance at the lady before concluding that the... cyborg? Gynoid? Had things under control for the most part. The fact the previously-dead woman seemed less eager to zap people was probably a good sign, right? Lyra only had one question to ask:

"The person who did this to you - are they still here?"

"There is a sword through your chest," Alexandria points out, "Are you certain you are not seriously damaged?  Your central processing unit may not be receiving sufficient oxygen.  I am reasonably sure humans keep their lungs in that location."

"I told you. I'm dead." The woman shook her head. "I suppose you don't have holy weapons here. Wherever here is, anyway." The sparks continued to dance, reflecting the stranger's caution. "This is supposed to be here." She placed one hand on the hilt, palm resting on the pommel. "The people that 'did this' to me aren't here, no." She looked down, sighing deeply (an action unimpeded by her condition.)

"Of course. More ghosts and shadows. . ." Her eyes moved to the two women on the floor; both seemed to be vanishing, burning away from within as if they were made of paper. The mess on the floor faded with them. "I knew it was wishful thinking. I'd hoped I'd finally killed that bitch." She blinked as she adjusted her position, sitting up straighter. "Wait, are you emotionless or not?"

"I am capable of experiencing emotions," Alexandria states, "Though observational evidence suggests they are somewhat less intense than similar experiences for organic life forms.  And occasionally miscalibrated.  ...Especially my humor protocols.  I have seen holy weapons before, but never one that could impale someone without causing substantial harm to the person in question.  Swords tend to be designed to harm others by stabbing them, you know.

"Who did you attempt to kill?  I do hope it isn't anyone I know."

Lyra

With no apparent threats, Lyra slowly moved over to where the android and impaled woman were.

”Perhaps we should start with introductions before questioning each other’s situations... I’m Lyra. Lyra Concept.” The contractor offered her hand - both for a handshake, and to help the woman up.

”And you are?”

The electricity roiled at Lyra's approach, but faded after only a brief moment as the girl reached out to take Lyra's hand. "I'm guessing the name Kallisto doesn't mean anything to you?" She rubbed at the side of her head, the pointed dog ears atop it flicking. "That's who I'm after. I thought I was close, but. . ." The stranger shook her head again. "Whatever. This isn't the worst setback I've ever ran into."

She let her hand drop as she glanced toward Lyra again. "Depends on who's asking. I could list off a few titles if I wanted, but for now. . ." She thinks for a moment. "Just call me L." Her gaze turned sharp for a moment, watching the two for a reaction.

"If that is what you wish to be called, so be it," Alexandria rolls her eyes at the obvious pseudonym, "I am Alexandria.  It is a pleasure to meet you fully functional and not having been crushed in some misguided maintenance attempt upon these machines, as I had anticipated."

Lyra

People had done much worse to Lyra than just glare at her. One look at the many scars on her face was proof enough of that.

”Well, ‘L’, I’m just a contractor. One who doesn’t know who that is. Right now I’m working with these people to, ah... stop inter-dimensional monsters from devouring reality?” Lyra looked over at Alexandria, hoping to get confirmation of this objective.

”And since you’re here, this Kallisto person is going to have to wait a bit before they get theirs.”

"Just let me have my paranoia in peace, please." L rolled her eyes, but she sounded more tired than anything else. "Thinking about my name right now makes my head hurt. Or it just hurts on its own. Good to meet both of you anyway, though." She rubbed at her forehead again. "I've had a long. . . everything. Yeah, let's go with that." L patted herself down, leaning around the hilt projecting from her chest in a manner that made it clear it'd been there for a while. "I can confirm I'm not actually hurt, which leads to the next question, I guess. Where am I? And yes, I know about those. A little. I'm not going to pretend I understand them."

"Thinking you understand the Trespassers is generally the first step to being consumed by insanity and eldritch horrors from between worlds, so your position on them is wise," Alexandria points out, "You are on the Castle, a vehicle capable of transporting people between worlds.  It has been commandeered by, as Lyra says, a group of individuals working to prevent worlds from being consumed or destabilized by the Trespassers."

Lyra

Gesturing towards the machinery and tubing around them, Lyra said, "This here is the engine room, hence Alexandria's earlier fears of blood lubrication. I know this is perhaps not the best circumstances to ask, L, but since the stakes here are much higher, how would you feel if you worked with us for a time? At the very least, you can get the gear and experience to bring down Kallisto once the time comes. You might even wind up saving a few lives along the way."

She'd given better sales pitches before, but the contractor figured that one wasn't too bad.

She just wondered if the group had a name. Repeating the group's purpose was a bit of a mouthful.
