Different kinds of mops for laminate wood floors

There are many kinds of mops for Laminate wood floors, but not all of them are suitable for laminate floors. Below are some popular mops that you should consider choosing for your precious floors.

  • Flat mops
This is one of the most classic and best mop that is loved by many people. The most specific advantage of this one is its design. It is super lightweight and very slender, so it can easily get into any tight corners or spaces in your house. The mop head is removable so that it is easy for you to clean. Flat mopping doesn’t use much water, so it is very suitable for laminate. Just one thing about it is that its head is small. It means that it can fit narrow corners and nooks easily. But if you have large areas to clean, it will take you longer to be able to clean all the surfaces.

  • Spray mops
This kind of mop comes with a water tank that allows you to spray a proper amount of liquid in front of the mop head so that you can clean it more effectively. You just need to fill the tank with clean water or your favorite solution, and then you can do your cleaning effortlessly. You don’t need to bring a bucket around, so it is quite convenient compared to the traditional bucket mop.

  • Spin mops
The spin mop comes with a bucket. There is a mechanism in the bucket that allows you to spin and wring the mop at high speed just by stepping on the foot pedal on the bucket. Your hands will be kept free and clean from dirty water. Anyway, the bucket full of water will be quite heavy for you to bring it around when you do the cleaning.

  • Microfiber mops
We can say that microfiber is the best mop for laminate floors these days. Microfiber is a high-quality material that is known for deep cleaning and being extra gentle on any sensitive floor, including laminate floors. Moreover, it can be repurposed and washed hundreds of times before you need to replace it.

  • Sponge mops
Sponge mops are superabsorbent and very helpful in cleaning spills on the floors. Nothing can help you to deal with these messes just in seconds than this sponge. This quick solution will prevent your laminate from absorbing too much liquid. Sponge mops consist of a sponge head attached to a mop handle. Keep in mind that a sponge mop can be very heavy when it absorbs a lot of water.

  • Steam mops
If you want to find the best tool for deep cleaning and sanitizing your floor, a steam mop will be your best choice. This kind of mop works well on hard floors and carpets, so if you have both, this one is for you. You can also use a steam mop for tiled walls or cabinets. This type of mop can operate based on a built-in heater that can convert water into steam. So, most steam mops need to be plugged into a socket so that they can operate.

Things you should consider before buying a laminate floor mop

When you are browsing to find a mop for your pretty floor, you should consider some notes below so that you can choose the best mop for laminate floors.

  • Weight of the mop
This is really a big point you should consider. No one wants to use a heavy mop day after day, especially if they have a bad back or wrist. In this case, a super lightweight will be the best choice for you because you can use it effortlessly.

  • With or without a bucket
It’s up to you. Many people still love to use the traditional mop with the bucket. However, it will be heavy when contained full of water and detergent inside. On the contrary, a bucketless mop will be a better choice for you. Plus, no bucket means that it will not take up much space for storage, especially when you don’t have a really big house.

  • Extra accessories
Do you like buying a mop attached with some extra accessories like extra mop pads, cleaning heads, or buckets? If the answer is yes, don’t forget to consider this feature when buying a new mop.

  • Material of mop pads
It is very important to choose a good-quality material for mop pads. I’m sure that you don’t want your precious floors scratched or damaged just because you're using abrasive material for cleaning.

The best material when selecting the best mop for laminate floors I recommend is microfiber. Thanks to the high quantity and density of fibers, this kind of material are very gentle and smooth on your floors, as well as being reusable hundreds of times.

Another reason why you should choose microfiber mop heads is that they are super absorbent but fast-drying. You don’t have to worry that your pretty laminate wood floors is damp because of excessive water from the mop.

4 simple formulas of homemade cleaner that are safe and work well with laminate floors

Sometimes, clean water is not enough to get rid of stubborn dirt or stains. You will need a certain cleaner to help you deal with this. Instead of buying some in the supermarket, you can completely make cleaners by yourself with ingredients that may already be in your kitchen. These homemade cleaners are mild and safe for your precious floors.

Below are guides of how to Make Your Own Homemade Laminate Floor Cleaner With These 4 Simple Formulas

  • One-ingredient formula: vinegar
I’m quite sure that vinegar is always available in any kitchen. Vinegar is a natural ingredient, so you don’t need to worry that it will harm your flooring. You will need a clean spray bottle. Then, in that bottle, mix vinegar and distilled water in a ratio of 1:2, shake well and spray the mixture slightly on the floor. Finally, clean it off with a clean cloth or a microfiber mop.

  • Two-ingredient formula: rubbing alcohol and vinegar
This cleaner is useful for treating stubborn spots on the floor. In a spray bottle, mix distilled water, vinegar, and rubbing alcohol in a ratio of 1:1:1. You can add some drops of your favorite essential oil for flavor if you like. Shake the mixture lightly, then spray it lightly on the affected areas. Use a cloth or microfiber mop to clean the surface. If those spots don’t come off totally, you need to repeat the process a couple of times until the floor is completely clean.

  • Another two-ingredient formula: rubbing alcohol and Dawn
In case you can’t stand the smell of vinegar or are running out of it, Dawn will be your lifesaver. Combine 1 cup of distilled water, 4 tablespoons of rubbing alcohol, and a small squirt of Dawn in a spray bottle. After shaking the mixture, spray it on the floor and mop it off at the end. You can do this a few times until all stubborn dirt or stains disappear.

  • Streak-free formula: Thanks for the help of castile soap
Hate streaks left on the surface after cleaning? No problem. Some drops of soap can help you deal with this problem as well as a mild dirty condition. You still need a spray bottle. Mix 2 cups of distilled water with 2 drops of castile soap, 5 drops of tea tree oil, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil to add a pleasant smell. Remember to use the right amount of soap as suggested. Apply the mixture to the areas and clean off everything with a cloth or mop, like in the formulas above.

We will be very happy if you have read it through and are able to choose a best mop. We hope that you can learn how to select the best mop for laminate floors as well as how to make your own homemade laminate floor cleaner with these four simple formulas. Your beautiful floors will stay shiny if you take care of them the right way, with the right mop and the right cleaners, as we recommend in this article.

Caravan guards should be able to engage enemies, but "civilian" caravan members are easily spooked (less so now than in the past), and when one caravaneer gets spooked he bolts and takes the rest of the caravan with him. Anything unloaded in the trade depot is abandoned (and you're credited with stealing it, regardless of whether you take it or leave it cluttering the depot), and if the spooked caravan member was a wagon it will disintegrate, leaving the carried goods in a pile on the ground (there should also be a log of wagon wood there in that case).

The result of such incidents is a reduction of the size of the next caravan (i.e. fewer good available for sale and a lower capacity for hauling away your garbage).
