Recruit Villain

Roll: 6=6 * 1.02 (102 renown spent) = 6.12, rounds down to 6

Utilizing street connections, cash, bribes, and so forth, Vinod has searched high and low for someone suitable for the cause. Specifically looking for someone who can aid us. Naturally these efforts started by looking through our own stock of thieves, and he has also put upon the roster the thief he believes is the most skilled and greatest asset of the team, a man named Ushijima Reizo, who was a part of the bank area of last heist and the one responsible for getting everyone out alive and dealing with most of the guards. Though, with so much available he has also looked elsewhere for talent potentially far greater than what is directly available. Two others have stood out to him. First is a woman who moved from the United Kingdom by the name of Caitlyn Stealey. She is a biologist who has a Doctor of Science in Biology, though seems to have been completely eclipsed by some other scientists who furthered her research and gave her no credit. Something that Vinod's connections believe she's quite spiteful about. The Second of these other more unique hires is a Kwon Hye-Sun, who is, unlike the others, actually a metahuman and singer. We know what her powers are thanks to a few...documents we were generously given. And Vinod seems to think we could potentially use her curios power.

Spoiler: Reizo Ushijima (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Dr.Stealey (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Hye-Sun Kwon (click to show/hide)

Please vote on who you wish to acquire. Ushijima doesn't cost anything to hire and you can get him immediately, however Stealey and Hye-Sun require a turn of further investigation, the former of these two requiring funding and the latter influence.

I was gunning for a thief, but the option for effective bioscience can make our lives a whole lot easier as we continue. Think about it: a biologist and an ample supply of chemicals thanks to the fact that her job is based out of a laundromat with a boss with connections. We could get all sorts of funky with tools for our dudes. The thief would be a nice addition, but our next heist (the art jewels) is probably gonna be fine with the thief groups and Feng doing the scouting and identifying the good loot during a daytime museum tour. Good science could add that little bit of x factor we currently lack beyond being awesome at heists.

Dr. Stealey worked on DNA.  Hmm… changes in DNA create mutants.  Mutants (potentially) have superpowers…

You see what I’m getting at here?

The Outside World and Previous Actions

The explosive newspaper that reported on numerous activates in Pren Gwyn, Schwarzes Holz, and Nemorland, the Gamayun's Stories, has continued to gain popularity and has gained a dedicated section to metahumans, or superheroes as the paper calls them, in Nemorland. Otherwise they have continued to be a bit of a nuisance in Pren Gwyn and Schwarzes Holz. Other than this, a major trafficking ring in Shirohon was completely and utterly dismantled. The criminals responsible are reported to have suffered extensive bruising, to the point some have broken bones, and burns. Further this has shown a measure of corruption in the northern territories of Shirohon that seem to have been dealing with local law enforcement. The people who were freed from these barbaric criminals reported the one that saved them refused to answer what their name was, but after being forced to simply said to call them Jiyū. Somewhat related, a spree of industrial thievery in Messerbeißer has seems to have stopped for the time being, much to the relief of the industrialists there. Lastly, the museum that was being built in Kalterhafen seems to be ahead of schedule, and is likely to finish in a mere two months time.

Project: Sneaking Suits

Rolls: Effectiveness (4+1), Cost (2), Bugs (3+1)

Work on the suits have finally come to an end and the results are promising, if costly. The material of the suits is quite durable and fire resistant. There's a bit of a weak point on the joints to maintain flexibility, but it is a bit more armored than it used to be. The desire for it to be able to scramble camera's also has been worked on, and a small device triggered by a extra button at the bottom of the suit can send out a signal that causes camera systems to crash and also messes with other advanced electronics to a more minor extent. Further, this combined with the shoes means that it's the most advanced bit of personal armor in the world! Well, other than the work Sothweg is doing, provided that ever actually finishes anyway. Still, our enemies will certainly not know what hit them, and the suits can be designed to look like other uniforms if desired which is good. After all, parish the thought of Feng or Vinod being stuck in a suit for all their work... Regardless, the suits cost 1.5 million per suit. And at least a third of that cost is for the little camera disabler alone. The only issues with it are that strikes to the joints are going to hurt and that the camera scrambler requires the thief in question to see the camera and activate the scrambler to send out a pulse. So if we have to deal with any extremely small or cover camera's we might not be able to deal with them. And the scrambler only has so many uses before it needs to be recharged. Still it certainly will do well enough for the work we intend to use it on.

Vinod's Recruitment

Looking into Caitlyn Stealey, there was some slight hesitance from Feng mainly revolving around her biases. But this would fade as it turns out that everything Vinod found out about her accomplishments was in fact accurate. Still, she would delegate the task of finding her and actually giving the offer to hire her from Báihu.co. Of course, this took time, but Vinod has street connections and plenty of new contacts with the many generous 'donations' he made of late, and utilizing that to find her specifically he'd find that she currently lives in Tirwin. Not too far from Pentrefsiapaneaidd, and the border between Pren Gwyn and Schwarzes Holz. Still, doing his job he would track down where she was and specifically give her a call. Upon hearing that she was wanted specifically for her skills in biology, she seemed quite pleased someone actually recognized her work, though when told that such a job wound be in Pentrefsiapaneaidd, she was a bit less enthusiastic. Still, she made preparations for moving, though expects a good deal of funding. About 5 million for advanced lab equipment, samples, and a myriad of other things important to her work, alongside her own paycheck, though ironically it's less than what most would probably take for the position...Someone clearly values their work more than their pay... Regardless all preparations will be done by the end of next month, provided the funds are expended.

It is currently the Project and Research phase.

You may at this moment in time describe and start one project which you would like to work on. The full effects of a project will be known upon completion, and the price and time of a project will be known once it is started. Do note that once you start a project, you do not need to work on it in the deployment phase, though electing not to will not advance it closer to completion.

Secret Policing Retinae/Superhuman Public Relations

On the front of it, the Superhuman Public Relations Department is designed around spinning things to our tune and helping with our rep as an inclusive company. In secret it is a front for using the info gathered to strike out against the reporters, snitches, and spies. Either way it's a good first step to setting up an information department. Though some of the work is going to be looking into hiring Kwon Hye-Sun to run it. It's always good to make use of your known assets, and the SPR should help greatly.

Qīnglóng Charity Organization

The Qīnglóng Charity Organization was developed by Feng Zhelan as a way for people to donate to the improvement of their country. From building orphanages to beautifying the city, and even helping to fund the installation of public cameras for the police and civilians to make use of to keep their streets safe and prosecution of those who damage it swift. Naturally it's quite the undertaking, from increasing public awareness of this new organization to hiring trustworthy individuals to manage it. Naturally she also donates to it at times, giving her quite the influence boost among the population.

Also useful for prosecuting heroes and villains who cause property damage, or getting the recordings. Naturally we have some influence on what cameras record, and knowledge of their placement due to being the ones who hire out the workers to get the cameras installed. Slipping some code into the network should be trivial.

Nán Fāng Zhū Què Ball
A high rise event with all the movers and shakers of our country held every year. While costly in influence to hold, it allows us to make personal contacts with a wide range of people and get them to donate towards the improvement of the country, in addition to improving our reputation among them. After all, anyone as influential as us who doesn't hold one at some point likely has something to hide.

Temporary Involuntary Paralysis Serum

The Temporary Involuntary Paralysis Serum is a mild toxin composed of a delicate but stable mixture of chemicals that is absorbed through the skin and inhalation which causes a mild level of muscle paralysis. While not enough to paralyze someone to the point they can't breathe, the toxin will prevent any sort of coordinated movement as it spreads throughout the body, leaving victims splayed out on the floor unable to cry out for help. The TIPS compound breaks down in the body, resulting in expected paralysis times at around an hour - enough time to do whatever needs to be done and get far away.

TIPS is dispensed using a grenade the shape and size of a soda can. Once the pin is pulled and safety lever released, a four second fuse burns down and through the tension pin holding a base spring in place. When the spring is released the pressurized reservoir of TIPS and dispersal system pop out from the bottom of the casing. Once opened, the pressurized TIPS is sprayed out of multiple nozzles and aerosolized into a yellow-green vapor that quickly disperses. Any droplets that collect outside of the body quickly and harmlessly evaporate, leaving an area safe to traverse with minimal Personal Protective Equipment.
