Autumn, 1895, Design Phase. With the success of the light gun program the heavy gun project aims to to develop new 8", 10", 11.5" guns built from the ground up to utilize the Draadkruit smokeless powder.
The new guns will be of a wire-wound gun design while also utilizing autofrettage developed from our light gun project to achieve guns that are exceptionally light for their size. Similar to the light guns these guns will also use vertical sliding block breaches, with the propellant consisting of a “main charge” in a brass casing, and a silk-bag “fore charge” to keep the brass case size down to something sane and reasonable.
Additionally the project will also look into developing improved power rammers and replaceable liners.

Work on the creation of a 8, 10, and oddly an 11 and a half inch gun is underway, though the workers set upon the project expect it to take some time and to cost a fair bit. Despite this, they believe they have done almost a quarter of the work necessary to get the guns up and running for our ships. And despite the costs, provided a decent amount of funding is sent to the workers experimenting on the various gun designs, the guns should be capable

Despite the costs of the project the results from early testing appear to be well worth it. The guns are shockingly cheap for their size (something that honestly is a surprise for anything out of the Veenlandish navy that's good at this point), accurate, long range, reliable, and hard hitting. Naturally, the guns are likely to be the envy of all other navies in the world once on a battleship, provided the rest of the world doesn't catch up in a year or two... Still, they are solid guns, with the 11.5 inch gun capable of a range of 25K yards, though it's effective range is about half that. Other than this, it should also be noted that the loading time on the guns is decent too, arguably slightly faster than normal, though this is most noticeable on the 8 inch guns, which can be loaded a whole two and a half seconds faster than our old 8 inchers. Though on the larger guns this time is a bit slower. Regardless, to top it all off, the guns are capable of going without maintenance or replacement for quite some time, provided they aren't subject to a high explosive or armor pricing ordinance hitting it directly...Regardless, it is clear the great thinkers of Veenland have greatly aided the workers in their struggle, and the Navy thanks them. Let's just hope they finish faster than expected...

Zeerover Speciale Kruiser: A modest high speed cruiser with a fairly sizable compliment of guns for dealing with any ships of equal size and armor along with anything smaller than it, and a few things above it. The submerged torpedo compliment also gives it a chance to punch well above it's weight, if it gets lucky. Fairly expensive though. Costs 5/2, 4 season construction time.
Compromise Class: An effective, slightly overweight shore defense ship with powerful guns and substantial, high quality armor. Quite fast for a ship of it's armor and armament, not far off from our cruisers. Costs 6/3, 5 season construction time.
A1-Klasse: A extremely fast Torpedo Boat Destroyer with a good compliment of guns and modest torpedo armament. The bridge is armored enough to be safe from splinters, barring a direct hit. It should be noted however the engine cannot run at full speed for much longer than a hour without running into issues. Costs 3/2, 3 season construction time.
