Hush thanks the lead repairman for her assistance then, he folds the paper up and sticks it into his suit pocket. Once the ship gets settled he makes his way to the elevator to meet the others to tell them everything went smoothly, then he asks them what happened on their trip through the city.

Your destination, Mars, is relatively close to Io compared to other planets. That is, it's still unbelievably far compared to Io to Jupiter. The Cedia is, however, equipped with cryopods to sustain you and enough fuel to make the trip, though some refueling stops at the asteroid belt's various stations would give you a margin.

Hush and Clown shotgun the cryopods suited for their physiology, leaving Nerve as the customary one who has to take watch and ensure the AI doesn't hit anything on the trip. Not that that happens much, usually, but there are many horror stories of sleepers waking up in the middle of a ship decompression and expiring rapidly.

Though, given the general length of a space trip, it's less of a wakeful watch and more like being in a semi-comatose state where you'd be more easily roused than your frozen crewmates.

...But space being the big place it is, you don't run into anything interesting or dangerous, which is perhaps for the best.

5 Months later.

You start to pick up readings from the asteroids, suggesting that you have entered the asteroid belt. Long before the war between the Inner Ring and the Outer Ring, various authorities in the Solar System had decided to place trackers on asteroids large enough to cause damage to spacecraft. You just have to hope that you won't be the lucky person to run into one that hasn't been marked yet, or a newborn asteroid.

You also pick up a stronger reading, from one "Teixu Asteroid Station." The AI is unable to supply any up-to-date data on which political entity has control of the station, or if there is indeed anyone on the station.

Either a good way to find a pirate's haven you can swap data and supplies with mercenaries, or run into an ambush.

The AI takes the liberty of thawing the others to decide whether you want to make a pit stop. Trading for more fuel would greatly speed up your journey, and data is always good to have in a profession where you pass out for months at a time.
