Entire map Inaccessible to caravans?

when i hit "D"  everywhere is red and wagons keep avoiding my clan.....

im on a waterfall volcano embark so im assuming its too steep or something?  can i build stairs or something?  any options available to get the wagons here?

Dwarfs can move over some things that a wagon cannot move over like boulders and cage traps.... Use 'D' and look near the depot, look for where the green meets the red.

.... as i said everywhere is red, infact the only green area is next to my depot; its been all three years all 3 races

also havnt had a siege yet and im on year 3? 3mil in value; wont let me use [ img]

since when do traps block wagon access as wiki says, my cage traps the problem?

(I thought I'd contributed to this, and mentioned traps as a stumbling block. Maybe someone else's thread?)

Traps have been wagon-blocking for a long time now.

If you feel like setting up trap-lines across an access, you can always interleave two combs of trap-lines:

...or any number of variations that gives a (zig-zaggy) trapless wagon-path but intercepts the first few (unwary) straight-line invaders that might wish to rush in.

Or use a wagon-only ramp-exploit to give a true wagon a viable straight trapless corridor in parallel (different Z, usually) from the fully boobytrapped anything-but-wagon route that all other visitors (and 'visitors') would use.

...and just looked at the pictures, but can't even tell where the Depot is/traps may be. Next time be/kerp zoomed in on the Depot, because access is from there on out. If there's no wagon access to just outside your 'gates', the swathes of map all the way to the edge are accessless no matter how well (or not) you have kept a route clear outside.

For the record, traps have blocked wagons ever since minecarts were added (and Track Stops along with them) - prior to that, wagons could freely traverse all types of traps.

Another reason I just discovered that will make your depot inaccessible is if it's currently forbidden.  I mass forbid it to encourage a strange mood dwarf to seek other materials, but forgot to claim it afterward until I saw the "wagons have bypassed your inaccessible site" message.
