Are Dwarves prone to Spontanious combustion?
« on: January 11, 2007, 06:34:00 am »

I had a Mason get taken by a mood for a couple days and naturally he annexed the masons workshop which was fine with me.  What was not fine was that several days later He canceled his mood and went insane Immidiately after which he went beserk! Three seperate dwarves were interrupted by his actions Seeing this I hit space to pause the game and locate the fool only to find him dead and every adjacent square around him splattered in blood and liberally (2 or 3 pieces) dusted with dwarf chunks....

I'll admit seeing the deceased dwarf, the recent announcements concerning him, and the swarm of animals milling about got me curious  .  Unfortunately I cant check his profile for some reason. owel It will forever remain a mystery. All be it a really amusing one to think about.

Anyone else have any Mysteries to share?

Edit: I've just had a Carpenter go mad then end up on the deceased roster as well...
   :confused: Only I cant find where he died... Once madness took him though he upstaged his insane predecessor by interrupting about Half a dozen dwarves with his final moments one of which was a child.

Prettymuch the same thing happened to me. Dwarf went into a mood, canceled it, then went beserk, ran about eight steps, and keeled over. Not as much blood and chunks as yours, but I still laughed my head off for ten solid minutes. He did make a nice blood trail, and three squares of spatter. I was pretty happy he didn't destroy or kill anything, too. If only more berserk dwarves would explode before they could do any real damage!

I like it when things die messily in my fortress. It paints the walls red!

Perhaps one of your dwarves re-invented the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique?

1) The dwarf got so pissed off that he exploded;

2) The dwarf kicked one of his ex-pets, who returned the favor with teeth.
