Some lair additions
« on: December 28, 2020, 03:35:45 pm »

For next Villains improving.

LAIR:CIVILIZED_SITE for working with POWER creatures (so they will live in currently inhabited site) or just beasts (so they will live in ruins).

HABIT:TORTURE_PEOPLE adds live victims in cages, recreating old HFS behavior. Work with night trolls, torture sphere HFS and, maybe, some semi-megabeasts.

HABIT:DEPRAVED_ENGRAVINGS make walls in lair engraved like in chamber of good old tentacle HFS. Works with LABYRINTH, SHRINE and CIVILIZED_SITE.

HABIT:POOL_VERMINS spawn dozens of live vermins in lair. HFS and some night trolls.

HABIT:FILTH_POOLS cover floors in lair by two types of filth and also unknown substance. Prisoners may be covered in substances too or it may looks good with live vermins habit.

HABIT:MUDDY_WATER cover floor by mud and adds water pools. Good with vermins too, but with next habit too.

HABIT:BURROW_FARMING adds some subterranean plants on muddy floor. Not many, mostly for flavor.

I don't know what habits will be better for recreate fire HFS. Other players who read this thread may suggest more habits or lairs too.

I like some of these ideas, since they're little activities for not so monsterous persons rather than mingling purely with bandits or building towers to remain out of view of authorities and live in the wilds (on own special little site), but really lair is a creature definition and so comes off rather weird too.

Some of these for a normal sentient such as a human unless it had some pretext of a trigger to enable it make not a lot of sense, which probably dips a bit into things like the interaction code's syntax like defining this lair behaviour for instance is only valid if the creature suddenly assumes the status of a were-beast/significant bandit/vampire.

Good ideas, especially if generated megabeasts are added in.

And I would add the HABIT:RAISING_CATTLE to have beast raising domesticated beasts (see how cyclops raised sheeps), HABIT:HARVEST_PLANTS for farming megabeasts and other which make them integrant parts of the world.

If lairs will support cattle raising, some creatures even can do their own experiments (in current version, experimenting logic need some hardcoded parameters, I think).

Just imagine someone trying to insert sentience on carps and elephants. More seriously, someone might bound a demon inside a mouse.

Are wizards limited to do experiments on sentient beings?

Not really, experiements can be bound together out of animals for dogs transmorphed into the experiment template of a spider etc, and these make up most of the mindless beings accompanying undead sieges.

Making them especially as lair guards with a little localized spread is a unique use for them though as necromancers tend to keep their own flocks of horrible beasts cooped up in the tower's grounds.

So, more of POWER creatures behavior may be implemented as lair tokens, like journeys for taming creatures.

Lairs may have not only depraved engravings, but also violent engravings (or engravings related to spheres of creature?), especially I suggest carpets, just CARPETS, made of skins.
