"Uhm.  Bird?  Would you like to go to the lake?  It's over there..." Shalva says, gesturing vaugely in the direction Fourteen indicated.  "...You can still fly, right?"

Watch the bird for a minute, to see if it seems to understand, or responds in any way.  If it does... return to hauling bodies?  It's a flaming bird.  It can probably take care of itself.

[Devastator]

Start writing again.

"Water didn't work."

"Bad fire lady, the one earlier.  Wants me to burn everything.  Wants everthing to burn.  Ate magic fire, worked a little, didn't work second time, stuck like this."

"Want seperated.  Need seperated or I'll burn everything."

[syvarris]

"...Fourteen?!" Shalva says, clearly worried.  She looks over at the priestess, seemingly for direction.

Yeah, uh, draw the priestess' attention to the bird talking about burning everything.

[Devastator]

"I want to read, fly around, have fun.  Not have burn lady in me."

[Egan_BW]

Fourteen stares for a few seconds, then sighs and raises her hand into the air, channeling almost invisible white threads of annihilation towards her which weave together into thicker strands.

"I'll see if I can help you, bird. Hold still."

[Devastator]

Let it happen.. but clench myself mentally, trying to wrap my mind and determination into a ball of blackness.  Include a tiny, tiny scrap of the fire power inside the mental ball of darkness.  Hopefully the priest lady can remove the firelady from me.

I might not want to burn everything, but fire magic could be fun, if I can properly control it.

The white threads stream towards Moldbin, but don't touch it. Instead they whirl around the bird into a spherical net around it, two meters in diameter. The white energy continues to stream in for a second until it forms a continuous, semi-transparent shell around Moldbin. The crow itself remains altogether unaffected.

"Sorry. Keep not moving."

[Devastator]

Continue Clenching Maneuver.

[Egan_BW]

Fourteen walks closer unhurriedly and holds her hands up to the shell.

"I don't believe that I can help you. I don't even know what you are. But I can't let you hurt the people in this town."

[syvarris]

"Wait, wait!  Fourteen!  Don't hurt it!"

Shalva rapidly slithers up, staying an arm's length away from Fourteen and the bird.  She clasps both sets of claws together in a pleading gesture.

[Egan_BW]

"I'd rather not, but it's better to kill an animal than let it burn down my village."

[syvarris]

"But it's not an animal!  It talks!  It might be a wizard who was cursed!  Or maybe a human soul got trapped in the bird!"

Shalva turns towards the bird, leaning down to be close to it.  "Hello little birdie, do you have a name?  And can you promise you won't hurt any of the people or buildings here?"

[Devastator]

"I want to stop fire.  Bad firelady made zombies on fire, they burn village.  I fought her off, so still me, but still on fire."

"Fix fire, save village from fire zombies, save me too."

"I want to help.  Helped snakelady not be bones."

Use Semblance to suppress the fire

[syvarris]

"...You did that?"

Shalva pauses for a moment, eyes wide.  Then she spins around and faces fourteen, clAws once again clasped together pleadingly.  "See, Fourteen?  It's already been helping us!  It's not a bad bird, let it go!"

Henric has stopped hauling, and is watching the situation. A plan slowly forms, even as the exposed lead in his skull starts to soften from the heat of the flames. It's not a very good plan, but it has a certain logic to it. A logic familiar to Henric, a matter of exchange and loss, underlying the rough medicine and crude justice of his rural home. If the kindly lamia wishes to save the bird, it may well be worth doing.

"I might have an answer."


Henric picks up the staff carrying the black flame, and breaks away the lit end, holding it gently in one huge, lead-filled hand. He focuses on it as before, attempting to push arcane energy into the recently created entity. He then forces it through the shell of white light, attempting to shelter it from damage, even at the expense of his own matter, and continues to pour power into it.

"Go on, little black flame. Put out the other one. Take its air."
