Luthern The Ravager: a beautiful walrus spider, Luthern is a warrior god of great ferocity. He has a simple request; allow him to lay his eggs on the Discus. He's sure that when they hatch that they'll turn out to be ravenous beasts and monsters - ones that he will return to slay for his own amusement. In return, Luthern will pay 7SC. Luthern of course, is a known wanderer and mercenary and it might be a few shifts after his eggs hatch before his return.

Employees and visitors come from all sorts of backgrounds, cultures, traditions and existences, all with various sorts of understandings of the self and the non-self. One of these is the matter of souls. Souls, as we know, are that bit of essence that keeps things running. Base creatures of a sentient state and lesser existences have smaller souls. Mortals have bigger souls and store up energy that they don't have the capacity to use. Spirits and gods have varying sized souls but do have the capacity to use it. This is all stuff anyone who's gotten this far off from the primordial stew will have realised or learnt.

Now here's the fun thing; souls don't strictly act the same way all the time. Its partly based on beliefs. In some cultures, for example, souls are divided into multiple parts. And what do you know, they really are if you go and take a look at the souls of people who do believe in that. Now if you did the same to someone who believed that souls are simply one big thing, you'd see that as well. If you encounter a group of mortals that believes that the soul splits into nine-hundred-and-eighty-two individual components upon death, well, that's exactly what's going to happen. Souls are plastic like that.

In the infinite existences, there exists the enigmatic race of Helpers. Small sprites of figments that feed on souls, the helpers have for aeons coalesced around their Nexuses. Long ago having united for protection and cooperation against stronger beings, the helpers would become known for their services to all sorts of existences, mainly in the form of information. More innovative helpers would go on to found the guilds and brokerages that gave the race their current name. Later on, these would be rebranded as corporations and cooperations. Even so, those who read too deeply into the histories of the helpers oft make notice of darker origins - not to mention the existence of an ancient (even by the standards of the ancients themselves) order of priests who mark the time in a secret chronology. Still, most helpers are merely trying to live out their mundane lives, just enough to pay the rent for their apartment and afford a drop of soulpresso in the morning.

Of late, there has been a bit of civil unrest in the Helper Nexuses due to a new social movement that desires a break up of the ruling Boards.
