What is strength of flail than other blunt weapons?
« on: November 04, 2020, 10:28:01 pm »

warhammer has ability to break joint, break armor, and armor piercing attack.

mace has higher base melee damage, and faster attack speed.

mornigstar has armor deadly piercing attack with spike and weight.

so, what about flail??

Note that weapons are "balanced" to all have pluses and minuses - some are widely considered just better than others (warhammer > mace) or are bugged (whips).

That said, flails have 2.5x velocity modifier, though a bigger contact surface than other blunt weapons. The velocity matters a lot, but surfact area is important for armor calculations. That suggest the may be better ahgainst unarmored while other blunt weapons might outperform it against armor. Perhaps flails are useful against undead, as long as they're showing up in rags.

Higher velocity and contact area than the others - I'd expect them to be weaker against armour, better at pulping exposed body parts.
While soft targets normally favour edged weapons, flails may be attractive against undead (stabbing organs does little, severed bits may be reanimated and continue the mess).
