C. Cutting out the middlemen will lead to better profits in the long run. And peasant rebellions.

TURNTURNTURN
It's time to head over and say hello to one of your vassals: Baron Axel. You set out with a small complement of guards east, crossing the river Goych and following the road to his castle of Tronbury.

It's a day's ride to the east, and you pass several small villages on the way. The castle of Tronbury is located on the outskirts of a dense forest to its east. Compared to Tyneton, the settlement outside its walls isn't large enough to be called a town, it's more of a village. As you ride through it, most of the settlement seems to be devoted to woodworking and forestry, with the lumberyard being particularly busy. The castle is much like yours, if a little shorter and smaller.

You meet Baron Axel in his great hall. He's a short man, with brown hair, brown eyes and a jovial manner. After exchanging the requisite pleasantries, you decide to take the chance to explain to him what your surveyors are doing in his lands (they arrived a day before you).

You don't think you explained it very clearly, but he seems satisfied by your explanation, and shrugs. "Way I see it, so long as they tell me the knowledge they've gathered, they're welcome to survey my lands. I haven't got anything to hide."

What else do you want to talk to him about?
A) Try and convince him to let the new Tax Bureau collect his taxes
B) Ask him about any recent happenings in his demense
C) Ask him about his family and court
D) Finish the meeting and go and explore the surrounding area

Glass is, as usual, correct.
Yep, as ever, I bestow upon Glass the expected +1
I'm gonna say we go with whatever Glass's idea is.

TURNTURNTURN
You ask Axel about his court and family. He lights up, "My son Tyrel just turned ten! He's a real terror in the yard, that one. And Lundella's fourteen - another headache, but for different reasons ..." He continues to ramble on for a while, and you gain a passing familiarity with his entire extended family, of which there seem to be a lot. He does pop an interesting question though, "Can't help notice that you've yet to take a wife. My cousin's still unmarried. Interested in taking her hand in marriage? She's a great beauty!"

A) Accept
B) Decline
C) Ask about the prospective bride

It also seems you've finally exhausted the news about his court, none of it particularly interesting. Is there anything else you want to discuss?

A) Try and convince him to let the new Tax Bureau collect his taxes
B) Ask him about any recent happenings in his demense
C) Finish the meeting and go and explore the surrounding area
