The party finally gets the winded Camira back on her feet, while Andre continues to take potshots at the foes surrounding them.

Merchant Archer A attacks Andre!

Roll: 47, hit!
Damage: 17-4=14

Merchant Archer B counters!
Hit: 113-40-11-15=47
Roll: 48, miss! //lmao
The man teeters on his feet and misses his counter, but remains standing.

Enemy Phase begins!

One of the spearmen bravely tries to dislodge Andre from his lofty perch.

Andre counters!

It goes about as well as you'd expect.

Another seeks to keep Camira out of the fight.

Damage: 15+1-3=ded
He succeeds, taking advantage of her still-dazed state.

An odd, dreamlike feeling passes over the battlefield. . .

Shrugging it off, the archers continue to pepper Andre against their better judgement.

This proves to still be a bad idea.

The remaining spearman retreats to the hill nearby.

Player Phase begins!

Andre takes another whack at his flagging foe.

The man looks a bit put-upon about the situation this puts him in.

Just because there was nothing to do but sit around and wait without even a book to keep her entertained, Hortensia tried to watch the ensuing battle. However, it managed to do nothing for her but make her even more whiny.

"Is this what these people find entertaining? Absolutely barbaric..." Her eyes wandered to the inn— ready to park herself inside and at least get some alone time away from all of this nonsense... Until the imagery of the filth that such a cramped and miserable little inn must have in all of its rooms. Hortensia shuddered and instead opted to just suck it up and watch the show.

Hortensia's initial focus on the battle had made things easy for Thane. He'd made his way behind her, leaning against the side of the wagon, just below the lip so she wouldn't be able to easily notice he was there if she didn't look. As she complained, he grinned, then popped up, strumming a chord on his harp.

"No, I'm not sure they would call it entertaining exactly. More like a way of life. If you were looking for their entertainment, you must look to me. A song, a poem, perhaps juggling? I have many... skills. For entertaining you see. Plenty of ways to make you feel good."

He winked at her, and prepared to duck.

Hortensia was already on edge and less than pleased that a commoner was trying to explain a 'way of life' to attempt to justify their crude barbarism— refusing to make any sort of eye contact as he spoke up. However, his further words just made her scoff. If she wanted music, she would look to the finest musicians back home; the ones that would actually provide her with proper atmosphere and entertainment. After even that, however, her eyes narrowed as she listened to his last words. Her mind wandered back to that cacophony of music from before, and her face was tensed up in a horrified blush.

"Y-You fiend! You brute— how dare you speak that way to me!?" She was quick to whirl around and attempt to slap him— Only to inevitably miss due to his swift preparations, only angering Hortensia further to the point of angered speechlessness and hurried looking and scooting away. If steam were something that she could manipulate (that is to say, if she could manipulate water, which she definitely could not), it would most definitely burst out of her ears.

The duck had been well prepared. The swing of her hand passed over his head, ruffling his hair slightly with the wind of the strike, but he popped back up quickly enough, as if he had not a care in the world

"Hmm, how dare I... I dunno, pretty easily to be honest. Also you're pretty cute when you're angry. You could stand to loosen up a tad though. You're stuck with this group for at least a little bit. It'll be easier if you just relax and enjoy being with different people. I promise we're not all that bad. "

Hortensia was still unable to say anything, only sit there angrily with a bit of a rumble and an uncomfortable blush. Suddenly, the battle looked a lot more interesting from her perspective.

"Can't... believe... speaking... dare you call me that when I'm furious... Ugh!" Hortensia slammed her fist down on the seat, whirling around once more towards Thane. "Listen here, you- you- you crook! I may be stuck here, but that does not mean I will allow myself to stoop to the levels you're on! I am here to merely tolerate and nothing more, do you understand me!?"

Thane rested his elbows on the edge of the wagon, tucking his hands under his chin, watching Hortensia with a slight smirk.

"I mean, if that's what you want to do, no one here can stop you. But that sounds like you're just asking to have a bad time. I mean, if you just lightened up a little, you could enjoy yourself a lot more."

Putting one hand down on the edge of the wagon, he vaulted up and over the side and settled down onto the seat next to Hortensia. Gesturing to the battle, he continued,

"Now see, this isn't entertainment to them, not exactly. But they'll be done with it soon, and then they'll relax. Play some games, listen to some music, the like. You could join them. Or you could sit up here and be alone instead. I get noble pride and all, but it's not like anyone here will tell on you."

He paused, and then commented,

"Oh and I do know more... refined songs. If you're interested."

Baronel moves to [G, 10] and uses First Aid on Cami.

"Hope I'm not in the way," he says, a little brusquely.

Dola takes a swing at one of the spearmen, eschewing Andre's cover.
Quote from: Dola vs. Merchant Spearman C
Dola attacks!
Hit: 97-13=84
Roll: 25, hit!
Damage: 14-7=7

Merchant Spearman C counters!
Hit: 94-21=73
Roll: 54. hit!
Damage: 15-5 = 10

She lands a solid hit, but the pointy stick proves to be yet superior.

Baronel, meanwhile, helps Camira to her feet once again.

Enemy Phase begins!

Two spearmen flank Dola.
Quote from: Merchant Spearman A vs. Dola
Merchant Spearman A attacks!
Hit: 94-21=73
Roll: 35. hit!
Damage: 15-5 = 10

Dola counters!
Hit: 97-13=84
Roll: 83, hit!
Damage: 14-7=7

Quote from: Merchant Spearman C vs. Dola
Merchant Spearman A attacks!
Hit: 94-21=73
Roll: 41. hit!
Damage: 15-5 = 10
Dola is downed!

Moving out of her defensive position proves to be a terrible idea.

The remaining spearman tries to catch his breath.

Player Phase begins!

"... You weren't" was all that came out of Camira as she was helped to her feet, the swordswoman rolling her shoulders back and forth in order to get rid of the sores from the various pokes and arrows she had been subjected to. She kept a composed look as she stepped away to get back into the fight, but inside, she was... Rather distraught over how quickly she went down.

She really wasn't deserving of the blade she held, was she?

Cami moves to I11, attempts to bonk Spearman C

"Good." Baronel hardly gives Camira so much as a second glance after helping her up, focusing his attention on waylaying the injured spearman nearby.

Baronel moves to [G, 9] and attacks Merchant Spearman B.
