Behrens Semi-Automatic 'Valturia' Pistol
As Behrens Jr. himself said, we pride ourselves on craftsmanship. We've made a few Mauser C96 pistols under license, but we can do better. The parts are milled from scratch by our company, the barrel carefully grooved to give the bullets a spin, and the seven-ammo cartridge placed in the handle for reloading. A simple press on a switch near the top will cause the ammo cartridge to unlock, dropping it to allow a new cartridge to load into place. The handle designed to be ergonomic, and the outer casing of the gun sleek and slim to not catch when concealed while remaining stylish.
Recoil Operation is used, and our handmade milling allows innovation in the form of a slide over the 90 mm barrel. This means that it does not stick out like some designs, meaning concealing it is much easier. Our craftsmanship renders our products quite reliable and hardy, as the products we make often last a long time. So long as you keep them oiled and cleaned, they will serve you well. By industry standards, the Behrens Valturia Pistol falls under the beginning of the Compact classification and uses the 8mm Behrens cartridge. Each comes etched with a signature from the finishing craftsman and numbers telling the year it was made in as well if it's the 1st or the 1000th that craftsman has done, so not only do you know it's Behrens Quality, but the government can track them.
Roll: 7Difficulty: -2Ditching the antiquated Mauser style of pistols, you set out to create a cutting-edge design with the most advanced features, in the outwardly simple and sleek style of Colt's automatic pistols. Removable box magazines are a particular challenge: unlike internal magazines, they must be cheap enough to include multiple with the gun, and they must be durable enough to be knocked around while outside the gun. The recoil operation with a slide over the barrel uses relatively few moving parts, but it's a challenge to balance precisely- in fact, partially because of its simplicity. This is additionally challenging due to the insistence on keeping the gun compact; the easiest way to slow the action is to make the slide longer and heavier. After a couple attempts, the successful design made some compromise against the compactness by having two recoil springs which extend past the handle/magazine, creating a "hip" or wider portion above the grip for the length of the gun, and the slide extends further behind the handle than Colt's design.
Behrens Semi-Automatic 'Valturia' Pistol: This is a pistol chambered in 8mm Behrens. It loads from detachable 8-round box magazines which are inserted to the bottom of the handle, and operates with a slide recoil system, in which the barrel lowers under the slide on two pins after traveling backwards a short distance. The slide extends behind the grip, and it is returned by two recoil springs which create a hip on other side of the gun along its length above the grip. Shells are ejected upwards to the right. The gun has a 90mm barrel and is a little more than twice that length overall, about 40mm of which is behind the grip. It features a thumb magazine release and notch sights on top of the slide, and a safety lever operated with the off hand. Every piece is milled and nicely finished in a mirror-smooth silver color, except patterned wooden grip plates. Costs 24 credits per batch.
